Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I am running an Intermountain sd-45 for testing and have found 1 of my code 55 curved turnouts has this problem. I think it must be a frog problem and am going to try a caboose industries ground throw 224S with the contacts. Any thoughts?

The frogs are huge on these, but an SD-45 should be able to straddle it and receive power throughout even if the frog is dead. Perhaps one of the contacts that transfers power from the outside rails to the inside closure rails has degraded (the point just after the heal). They appear awful fragile on mine. Maybe a careful drop of solder between will connect them back up.

Its funny that you mention that Mark. I had the same thought after I posted this message. I will be checking this in the morning. When I first laid the track it seemed to work fine but after some work in the area it started to stall. My other curved turnout is working fine with the same engine.

try using a jumper wire from a good section ,try both common rail and the powered rail.sometimes the wire in the frog burns out,i have had that problem with code 80.if that works all you have to do is soldier a jumper from one point to the other

I'd also check it with another engine to rule out all possibilities (could be a problem with the frog AND loco combined). I had a Kato SD40-2 which I had installed a decoder in that wasn't running as well as the one I usually MU'd it with, kept sputtering on my Code 55 frogs (which are currently unpowered). Turns out when I reassmbled the locomotive the brass pickup strip on one side wasn't making correct contact with the front truck. A quick fix but enough to cause problems in the right circumstances.
