Quod erat demonstrandum, et gratiae ad Flash Blackman.

"Which was to be proved, and thanks to Flash Blackman."

Flash, the apps are applications, programmes you can get for free or for money, to download onto your iphone and then play games, do work... It is a huge and burgeoning business. My contention is that, with a dedicated train modeling population in N. America of about 200k on a sunny day, and if only half of those are into DCC (doubt it very much), and about half of those, to be generous, are iphone users, it will be a very tiny microcosm market for whomever develops the app. Won't pay for lunch.

Digitrax + Railroad & Company Software Handheld App

    I have the following setup:

    1. Digitrax hardware and decoders
    2. RailRoad & Company Software [link between hardware and computer]
    3. HTC 4G EVO smartphone
    4. SmartHand Mobile [RailRoad & Co app]

    Works just fine for me!

In closing let me share my personal bias. First, I have never ever had any problems with Digitrax during the past eight years [other than those I inflicted upon myself because I did not thoroughly read their manual]. Second, my RailRoad & Company Software Gold Edition is the most comprehensive train control system on this planet. The options for controlling my trains automatically via the computer exceed the little time I have remaining at age 80. Every week that I take the time to re-read the manual I discover new options! Third, the SmartHand Mobile App is a clever controller BUT the only controllers I ever use when my grandchildren join in a train running session with old gramps are the original Digitrax handhelds!

Check out the existing app at RailRoad & Co. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent demo! In particular it was most useful to see the smart phone in hand as you adjusted the speed which was immediately reflected in the train's movement in the background. Well done.
