Hi, I was wondering who makes NYC Cabooses I am build a 4x8 fictional RR based on the NYC using The Atlas Track plan 16 Atlantic long Haul. So i was wondering who makes these. It will be mid to late 60's. You can see some of it by clicking on the link below.
If you can find some a RTR stand-in that might be acceptable to you is the Walthers Bay Window. One of the options was a NYC-style bay window. The car is a little more modern than the NYC job and has a different style roof with no walkways.... but the general "look" might be close enough. Charlie Vlk
Would it be better to go with penn central one and say this when during the time of penn central was coming together then that way i can use penn central cabooses and pc locos plus otthers that made up PC.
Here is some history about my layout The name of it is The Pineville RR. It is a shortline that started up when PC merged into Conrail. They have five industries they service A mattress Factory, a Farmers grain and feed mill and store , A heating oil distributor, farmers co-op, and freight station that is run by the rail road.
You have 2 options for accurate NYC cabooses and a few close enoughs. Accurate - 1. Robert Ray laser cut kit - 2. Train Cat brass kit - Shown above Close Enoughs - in order of accuracy. 1. Walthers Bay Window w/short bay and GMM roofwalk and detail set. 2. Athearn / MDC - offset cupola 3. Model Power Bay window Unfortunately, you have to build or kitbash no matter what and only the Train Cat kit is currently readily available. Robert Ray may have some kits left but I think they were scarce when I built those.
The Robert Ray kits took me about a week of evenings to build. They go together very good but have many parts. I'll let you know in a couple weeks on the TrainCat bay window as I am supposed to build a couple of them for the same person that I built the Robert Ray kits for.
