Sharp eyes Alex... With the levels of quality controll these days its surprising this got through, mabee thats why its a premium.... Mike..
Just wondering: Why is all this new plastic molded cars produced in so small quantitys that's look like a problem to get hold of them? I can understand that brassmodels are limited, but not cheap plastic models.:munhappy:
Quick!!!!!! Quick!!!!!! Someone get a fine tip black Sharpie marker and fix those Hoppers before AZL sends them back to China!!!! Hobo Tim
Yup, do not send those back to China....they'll just say "so solley" Those cars can be repaird quite easily. Shucks, the lettering is so small no one is going to notice much anyway if the lettering is just slightly off a bit. And weathering and graffiti is the answer to the bloopers anyway. Dirt can be beautiful. Svein, the shortages are caused by the manufacturer not realizing how popular a new release will be and also the release is partly based upon prior numbers. I think MTL finally got wiser about doing pre announcing or pre orders and AZL is likely learning the same lesson. It is always a gamble for a manufacturer to invest heavily in a brand new product, but in the case of excellent rolling stock, I think the gamble would have paid off easily. I think Hans is learning......... He's just being a bit cautious, but now I think he is assured that any new release is going to garner great interest and demand. Am I right Hans?
Actually Loren, the Chinese have a interesting policy of executing the people responsible for embarrassing cock-ups, although I hardly think this rises to the level of the melamine and lead paint scandals. But, you never know. Otherwise, pretty cool looking stuff. No current need for intermodal stuff, so just as long as the RDCs (and any other cool commuter stuff) gets released, I'll be happy.
Pretty much - yes. ...but I'm not Hans (grin) Seriously, the strategy with the PS2 was to order the same ammount of everything, and then do rapid re-orders with new roadnumbers (thats easy for our factories to do, and had about a 90 day lead time when we finalized the PS2 project) the problem is that the facotry was sold since then, and their lead times and minimum order requirments seem to change by the day. In additon, the number of standing orders from dealers has gone through the roof. We will gradually increase our orders on early runs. Rob K will gather more dealer input when we place second orders for products, but with new tooling projects it is very difficult to tell when we will get first delivery due to an unknown number of revisions needed to perfect the tooling. -Rob(A) AZL
