I have a 2% grade in which part of it is on a curve. I can get about 10-12 cars per loco (depending on loco type and car weight). I too like watching my trains take the grade. It's a long run so I can run a trio with 30 cars though it.
Thanks for all the great replies, even though it wasn't my thread in the first place. Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack the thread like that. Hemi - Those photos look great, but to the untrained eye, I didn't think they looked all that severe? The thing is, some of them do resemble what I had envisioned for my layout. So thanks for the heads-up that I may be attempting things that may not be the best idea. Thanks again!
