Sounds like a bunch of us will go to Anaheim. Maybe we should meet in front of Wig Wag at a certain time.

The scratched case guy was at the Del Mar show with his jacked up prices and 50% off. What a deal.
I'm surprised he is still around selling all that tired old stuff for such outrageous prices.

I know most of the vendors hate it when Wig Wag is around. If it wasn't for George and Deb, I probably wouldn't buy anything.

It was a lousy show for the quality and number of sellers. The nice thing was the number of modular layouts, nicest one was the HO trolley layout. Assembling that one together must have been tedious.

I was at the show both days(the new guy with Orange County Engineers)and was suprised to have to pay to park, not even a discount for the clubs!!! I did score some killer deals, but I always wait till the last few hours of the show and try to convince the sellers that they should sell the stuff to me rather than cart it back home. Works most of the time and I do the same for others when Im selling. I agree some of the guys keep bring back the same old over priced stuff show after show, but somebody must be buying it to keep them comming back(sure aint me).

I noticed that too, there is alot of intense work on that layout. There was one of the members in a Conductors outfit walking around working, cleaning, checking on it the entire time I was watching.

No disrespect to the MRR clubs, but if you go to the major modern model railroad shows in So Cal, you would have seen all of the clubs' modular layouts many times already. I only really check out the layouts if I hear there's something new or say "hi" to someone I happen to know from a certain club.

We drove the 1000 miles down, never again. They even made vendors pay to park and then could not even get back on the grounds until a half hour after the show closed to pack up. Plus the walk thought the rivers in the parking lot was fun 6 times for the weekend lol.
Sorry, more did not stop by and say hi.

Rich, unfortunately most of the shows around Socal have turned into giant swap meets. Unless its close by like Ontario I won't attend unless my modular group is in attendance. The Anaheim and Long Beach shows are usually very good with many vendors who actually have a product to promote like Bragdon, yourself, shops, and custom guys. They will attract many more people, especially Anaheim (more central for Socal), and the Anaheim Convention center does not charge the clubs and vendors to park during shows. Long Beach is $10 per day, Ontario free, Pomona youknow.

Seems like the attraction is anyone who can set up a table and sell off of gets priority to. I would think that clinics, clubs, and lectures should be a part of every show to attract more people for those vendors. Just my thoughts.

It has been past practice The N-Land Pacific has new modules and different layout shapes for each show. I believe for the Anaheim show, we'll have 2 or 3 new modules for presentation. Plus we always have 1 or more module(s) in construction. Personally, after New Years I will begin construction on a Pisgah module. I don't think it will be ready for Anaheim but do hope to have it ready for operations by our Feb. open house.

If in the future anyone wants to redezvous first, let me know, we can go in the same vehicle, I'll get us into Sheraton parking first, then we can walk in as a group to the train show building. We can introduce eachother, avoid parking fee's, then we walk in together and we can ask for a group discount. No guarantee's, but it might pay to ask.

I just now saw this thread and I’ve wanted to go to the Anaheim train show for years and never hear about it until it’s over.
So when is the Anaheim train show?

Well this year (2010) it was on New Year's weekend, so it kinda slipped by some people, even though the attendance was still pretty decent (I would guess some of the Rose Parade visitors from out of town dropping by helped). In 2011 it's in late January (22-23) so you still have time to prepare. I'll also happen to be at a huge musical instrument convention (NAMM Show) the weekend before so I'll be spending lots of time at the Anaheim Convention Center next month!

A So Cal Trainboard member meet-up would be cool!

Thanks, I’m putting the Anaheim train show on my calendar. I’m glad it at the end of the month because I always have too much going at the first of the year.:pbiggrin:

Well having a certain location at a certain time would help. We could also print out Trainboard "badges" with our username on it and we can spot each other while roaming around or something. I only know two of you in person so far (john_plsn and 81vette) and I believe both of them will have their club or company at the Anaheim show (John with the N-land Pacific club and Joe's (81vette) company Scratchbuilt By Joe were both there in January).

We'll start up a separate thread for this in a couple weeks and maybe we can all iron out some details.

Engineer Bill, are you on the Model Railroads of Southern California Yahoo group/email list as well?

The IP guys usually go to breakfast on Saturday before the show to iron out any last minute details. So you could do something similar.

The last time I did something like that, the restaurant was so packed that not everybody could get a seat.

    Ok, what's a going on here. I just read I'm a crazy...what? Grin!

    Yep, sounds good to me.

Although the last time I mentioned I was BarstowRick I witnessed a whole group of guys pull away to the other side of the room. They liked tight radius curves and wanted to call "Switches".... "Turnouts". Someone one else thought I had flamed them and wanted an apology. Oh, he got one but I'm still not sure how in the world I flamed him. Good to know the players. Grin!

So, who's buying lunch, when and where?
