Blackstone Models has received some decorated C-19 models, They currently have the R.G.S. #40 and the D&RGW #345 pictures posted. More pictures of other road numbers will be released soon. Needless to say I am glad I reserved one of these bad boys!

On a side note they were supposed to be released this month but were delayed until "late spring" 2011.

I have 2 on order, one of which is the "Bumble Bee" paint scheme. RGS #40 is fully reserved.

That is VERY nice. I still have that idea for a Michigan U.P. copper hauler kicking around in my head and it could use second hand western power.

I'd be surprised, were this not the case.

I should also mention Blackstone is no longer accepting reservations. Check with your local dealers once they are released.

There will be undecorated versions so you can have "what if" logo's and road numbers. :) I think you just gave me an idea for a Southern Pacific C-19!

That is precisely what I was thinking. :) Pretend it is a catalog locomotive or purchased from a western line, slap a road number on it, and send it out on the main line.

Shoot, If I wanted to I could go a little crazy and make it a Soviet war loco given to them as part of the lend lease agreement, kinda like the famous Baldwin decapods. Since they didnt see much use in the 1940's, you would figure they could send some to the Ruskies who needed it for the war effort. :) Besides I think they would look badass in O.D. green with cryllic lettering and red stars. Sounds crazy but I think it would be interesting.

I have two reserved, one in bumblebee which will match perfectly with the "Silverton" painted passenger cars. 2011 is going to be a good year for narrow gauge!

All I have is the regular 345 reserved. I am conflicted because I want the Bumblebee version and I dont want it at the same time because they painted it like that just for a movie, yet I agree that it would look really good with my special edition boxcars and silverton passenger cars......

Can't wait to see the moffat tunnel herald one. It won't look great until I add a ridgeway stack to it.:tb-biggrin:

I know what you mean. I'm conflicted because I reserved both number 345 flying grande and the bumblebee which both have the same number (345) but I figured what the heck - the bumblebee is just going to look so good with the aspen box car and pax cars.

    A little crazy? :)

I though Russia used/uses 5.0' broad guage and I'm afarid I'm not up on Russian narrow gauge. In any event, a C-19 as you've desribed would look interesting all right, maybe pushing one of those armored trains.

The more I look at it, I'm thinking that for a copper hauler, I wouldn't need to change the cab and could probably get away with leaving the pilot as well.

Yeah I can really picture an old C-19 for copper hauling, it sounds legit. As for the unlettered versions, Blackstone will have 2 unlettered variants. An older variant with 9in. compressors and a wood cab with fluted steam domes, and a more modern variant with 11in. compressors with a steel cab and round steam domes. I think you could get away with either one ;)

Would the C-19 look out of place lettered for EBT? I reckon one could get an unletterd C-19 and letter it for EBT to pull those EBT hoppers Blackstone has anounced. Just a thought.

    It's your railroad!
And - there're many freelanced railroads. Think about an history to verify this.

I think I'd prefer the steel cab but you never know. I'd have to see the finished models. Except for the smokebox, I think the C-19 would be a reasonable analog for the Quincy and Torch Lake connie that's slowly rotting by the Quincy Mine outside of Hancock, MI. Not perfect but reasonable.

Many times later NG roads used NG because they could get used NG equipment so cheap from bankrupt roads. (Ref: American Narrow Gauge Railroads) Just say they got a good bargain, or use the loco and the hoppers to haul copper ore in the Michigan UP. [IMG]

That could not be more true.

It sure is depressing seeing that poor engine decay...If only I has some money I would buy it and restore it.
