Installing Kato loco wheels in Atlas locos... Last week, I installed Kato loco wheels #932090 in a couple of Atlas locos. I used a .031" drill bit to drill through the wheel retainers'/contact strips' stub axel dimples. This allows clearance for the longer Kato wheel's stub axels. The Kato stub axels aren't long enough to touch the truck frame. I have test run these locos and they run great. -Pete
The drilling may not be necessary since Kato loco wheels are usually slightly over gage. Re-adjusting them back to gage may correct the problem of the Kato stub axels being a little too wide for the wipers and truck frames. -Pete
