So I finally got a Digitrax decoder installed in my Kato RDC. Everything works fine except the lights are reversed. I Didn't think one could install the decoder backwards due to the LED wire lengths but thats the way it's acting. When the car is traveling forward the front lights are red and the aft lights are yellow. Same when traveling in reverse. I searched this forum but couldn't find any info which CVs I need to change in order to get the lights the correct color for direction of travel. I tried a full reset but no changes were noted. I suppose I could tear the thing apart agian and see if in fact there's a way to reverse the installation but don't want to risk busting something. Also, the 3rd light board (interior car light) is activated by F1. How does one set the correct CV(s) so one can activate the interior lights. I am using a Lenz system so don't have all the fancy controller buttons a Digitrax system has. I do have decoder pro so can access all CVs for easy mods. tks, Brian
OK I found the info I was looking for. Digitrax has the answer on their website. In order to change the light colors/directions you need to write the following values: CV 33=2 CV 34=1 Oh ya' F1 is controlled on a Lenz controller with (you ain't going to believe this) the "1" button. :tb-hissyfit:sheesh.......... Anyway thought I'd post my own answer just in case anybody else had the same experience as me. Brian
I did one of these in N scale, I'm pretty sure the decoder (at least at that time, a couple years ago) was wrong. Since I had (still do for that matter, but the railroad hasn't progressed far enough to justify an update) a system that won't let me get at the CVs I have to move some wires. Still not a big deal.
I have done many of these and have found just what you did. Change CV's 33 & 34 to make the lights work right.
