I just got an NCE Powercab and everything is working properly except that there is no power going to the tracks, I am pretty sure I wired everything correctly, I think there is a problem with the connections between the wires leading to the tracks and the Panel. Anybody now how to fix this?
I would double check your wiring. It is probably something simple. Make sure nothing is on the track to cause a short. Make sure the flat wire is used and is in the correct jack on the UTP (left jack). Use a meter to check there is voltage coming out of the track connection. Here is an excellent site for NCE http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/nswmn2/DCC.htm
There is no problem with the Throttle, it is a problem with the connector that connects the Track wire to the Panel. Here is a view of the Back of my UTP:
I would contact NCE. Better to call then e-mail. They are very good about taking care of a problem. Tel: 585-265-0230
The six wire cable should be used in the left connector. Put a quarter on the track and the Power Cab display should go dark. I have the Power Cab. Rich
Glad you were able to correct the problem. As I said in a previous post it was something simple. Happy Thanksgiving
Earlier today I laid down the permanent track for my layout, I wired it up, placed my engine down, started up my Powercab and then... Nothing :tb-sad: The cab lit up but the track power light on the panel is not lighting up again! :tb-hissyfit: At first I thought it was because I was using the standed type wires and they became a little bit frayed, so I replaced them with the solid type wires and still nothing. Any ideas?
You do have the Powercab plugged into the left connector on the UTP? It won't work in the right hand jack. If it is in the correct jack, my money is on a loose connection. Last time you changed a wire power came on. Martin Myers
OOPPS!!! I did have the cab plugged into the wrong plugin, I had the panel Upside-down so I was just using the wrong plugin, thanks for the help guys!
