HI: Have Lenz Set 90[about to have rev. 3.6 upgrade done]. Just getting back into HO after several yrs. out of Hobby. See that Lenz has released new Standard decoders. Seeking someone who has used them. Have other Lenz questions also, which could be done off-forum, if that is convenient to whoever answers my inquiry.

I've been using a Lenz system with the LH100 throttle and version 3.6 software for a little over a year now. I also have a few locomotives with Lenz gold series decoders mounted. If you have any questions I'd be glad to try to answer them.

I use Lenz, with two LH90 throttles, but I haven't tried their decoders.

HI: WAS planning to use Gold decoders. When I saw prices, it made me consider their new Standards. When retired on fixed income, you do what you can.
Anyway: I go to a few local train shows; might find some Lenz decoders there. Have one brand new Lenz decoder buried somewhere in all my boxes but it's discontinued number[no silent running or back emf]. I don't believe the new Standards have silent running but have back emf listed as built-in feature. THANK YOU for reply...Tom

Tom, is there a particular reason you prefer Lenz decoders? Digitrax and TCS decoders may be easier to find, are competitive in term of features and price, and will work perfectly with your Lenz system.

The "standard" decoders operate use 23KHz for the motor control. That should be silent unless you're a dog. While I don't have any of the standard series, the Lenz decoders I do use have excellent motor control.

THANKS TO YOU BOTH FOR YOUR REPLIES!
I watched very closely when Lenz willingly donated their key proprietary DCC data to NMRA Standards Committee, enabling establishment of the solid DCC standards we now have[it COULD have been chaos w/o this!]. I guess you could say I'm practicing 'owner loyalty', as I really like my Set 90 AND my XPA w/Motorola phone, which gave me a nifty h/h throttle. Many others don't like this setup but it works just fine for me. I have no doubt that Lenz will eventually introduce a wireless h/h throttle here in US.
And am HAPPY to hear the Standards ARE silent running[and they sell for $24.95]. Now, I must dig out 9 locos[all purchased new; owned for at least 6 yrs.] and only one has ever been run by me. It has primitive MRC decoder & will eventually be converted. Intend to go slow with this. $ is first obstacle; NOT goofing up is other. After Set 90 comes back w/rev. 3.6, will make full use of programming track, so I don't fry something.
    TTFN....Tom
