Hi All, I was having a problem with my layout (see picture), which your forum members very quickly pointed out to me that the blue section is a reverse loop and the way I had it hooked up (without any reverse switch) is why my layout kept shorting out (told you i was a newbie...). Ok, that identified (and disconnected), all works well. So, I need to know how to wire it up so it WILL work now ! I have found: The Digitrax AR1 (Digitrax.com: Digitrax AR1 Auto Reversing Controller ) and was wondering if: 1. this is the correct device to use 2. how many I will need 3. although I have downloaded the .pdf from their website, I am a little confused on if I need one, or two and how to wire it applicable to the blue section on my layout Would anyone be so kind as to throw some light on this please?
Yes VERY simple Yes VERY simple To answer your questions Yes One Just one for each reversing loop, the AR1 goes between the main DCC track power and the reversing section, providing the correct polarity for the reversing section. Both ends of the reversing section HAVE to be insulated (Double Gap) from the other tracks. The AR1's are very simple to install and adjust if needed. Two wires in (Track A & B, From the Main Line) and two wires out (Out To Reversing Section). I use the AR1 on my layout without any trouble. Gary
I am asking what system you are using? NCE's Power Cab will not work with a AR-1. So if that is the system you have this will not work.
eh? I have NCE Power Cab and Digitrax AR-1. They work just fine. Only had to adjust the trip screw a little as instructed.
