Part of an interview with Jimmy Kimmel last week in which Rod talks about the hobby. A sneak preview of the December 2010 issue of Model Railroader and some stunning photos of his layout. Cheers David
I cant remember what issue it was that the last time he was featured in MR, maybe Dec 2008? What I thought was amazing was the story that his friends had told in the article about his wife watch that went missing and ironically it ended up as part of a clock tower on his layout. I think it was in a train station but I cant remember for sure. Either way talk about being creative! I NEVER would have thought of that in a million years!
Thanks David. Stewart does magnificent work with his HO models. The interviews with Stewart I've seen on TV talk shows, he seems a humble man who just happens to make a nice living as a Rock Star..:tb-cool:
A story about Rod Some years back, I worked at the local train store in Dallas-Bobbye Hall's Hobby House (Hallmark importer also). One day I looked out of the back shop and saw some long haired dudes and a knock-down beautiful blonde, one of the guys was Mr Stewart. At that time, he was buying a bunch of Lionel (I guess he collects it also), not the cheap stuff either. I got to say a couple of words to him, he seemed like a nice guy. Well in a few minutes, Mrs Hall (owner who was about 80 then) came back to the shop and asked me if I knew who this guy was. I told her what I knew and that Mr Stewart was a big timer. She looked at me and said -"well, I hope his Visa card is good!"..... cool memories.. Woodie
Rod Stewart posted a photo to Facebook earlier today. (You don't need to be a Facebook user to view it.) http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=446117188803349 Cheers David
Dannnnnnng!!!!! That looks nice. The weathering on the station is great. He still looks pretty good for an old guy.
Awesome! Rod had a spread in MRR Dec. 2007 Three Rivers and Grand Street layout that convinced me to plunge deeply in to model railroading.
I also saw the layout story in MR. It's one outstanding layout. Many many small details brought this layout alive.
