Hello there I just joined the forum and read Charlie's welcome letter in which he invites newbys like myself to post, well here I am warts and all. My name is Dave, I live in Queensland Australia, Married and a total train nut both real and model. I have built several layouts over the past few years including Australian HO, British OO, and Japanese N, my current project is an American Freelance style N Scale layout loosely based on the Garden of the Gods at Colorado, I would not know how close or what Railroad ran in that area but now the mighty AT&SF has trackage rights, the upper level of the layout features a yet to be named Heritage Steam Railroad where exotic 1905 Baldwin 0-6-6-0s will haul vintage cars around the yet to be created red cliffs. Certainly not a prototype layout but living many thousands of miles away from the USA gives me the OK to enjoy creating some of the area features and thanks to those that have visited the G of the G and taken the time to post photos on Google Images I have something to go by, I have been studying American Railroads both steam and diesel for many years and have to say that I think this project will be the best yet. Regards Dave.
Welcome to TrainBoard, Dave! Have a look around and enjoy. Gotta give credit where credit is due, mentioning you're from Queensland and all...
Hi, Dave. I am glad you 'dropped in' to say hi. Maybe we can be treated to some images as you go along? We like images.
Dave- Welcome to TrainBoard! As already suggested, we'd sure like to see some progress photos! Boxcab E50
Welcome at TrainBoard, Dave. I'm also far away from the USA. I've never been there. But I like to model US-style railroads. Wolfgang
Welcome, Dave! You are in good company here as there are many modelers of North American railroading who live somewhere other than North America, including quite a few in Oz. Look around and have fun. This is a great place. Adam
Hi Dave, welcome aboard. I also live far away from the US, but did model US railroads in HO and N for several years. Some pics would be nice, of your railroad, and also of Queensland railways.
Hey, Dave! Welcome to TB! It looks like your history of modeling in multiple scales is similar to many of us on Trainboard. After spending my grade school years with Lionel trains and my high school/teen years in HO, I've been modeling in N-scale exclusively thoughout all my adult years, but satisfy my longing for other scales by operating on friends' HO and S layouts. Other TB'ers are actively modeling in more than one scale at the same time. You mentioned the "upper level"...do you have multiple decks or multiple elevations of track on a single deck?
Thank You All Thanks everyone for your warm welcome it is much appreciated, very nice to see people from all corners of the planet on the forum as my interests in trains is worldwide. To DaveH the upper level of the layout was an afterthought I am not very good at planning a layout, more of a boots and all approach then make changes before starting scenery. To Gats, I am a Queensland import from Victoria, not sure which is worst lol. To COverton, will post some photos, not much to see at the moment. To Alan, I would be happy to post a few pics of Queensland trains, will sort some out. To Everyone else, thank you once again for the replies. Regards Dave
