Guess porkchop equates to "fresh meat." Why don't these guys show up when I list stuff?

There's just something there that strikes me as ridiculous - or not really looking at what you're getting. Caveat emptor, right?

I'll sell mine for that, if someone want to pay me that kind of money for it!!!
Can do a bit more work on truck then!
Wonder what a ConCor Turbine would go for??
Any wonder I have NOT purchased anything through Ebay in 2-3 years now?
    Ridiculous!!!

Heck, I paid about the same for my BRASS one! Shame is, they probably run alike.
Got plenty of room inside the shell for all kinds of repowering and goodies though.

I am half tempted to put mine up for sale geeesh. I think I paid around $35.00 for mine in 2000. And yes, it does run like most Bachmanns I have owned. I do sort of like this beast though...just wish the quality was better. I was tempted by the brass monsters but I have heard they run no better.

I just sold a bunch of stuff on Ebay.....my Kato custom painted BN F7A went for Forty Bucks!!! that's it but this these things are going well over a Hundred bucks???? The world has gone MAD!!! :D

Perhaps. An intelligent model railroad company (is there one?) would use EBay as a marketing R&D tool. If someone wants a particular model so much they are willing to trade great amounts of green paper for it, then there is probably a shortage of that model.

However, I've heard at least one manufacturer say, "Well, it sold out in 4 hours, so therefore the market must be saturated".

That's sort of like the logic the manager at a local grocery store gave me when I asked about why they didn't carry a certain product. "Its too hard to keep the shelf stocked with it, it was always empty."

I'm beginning to think so too. Porkchop, gregberti, and sixpack along with a couple others show up in almost all the auctions posted in this thread. This many people can not be that foolish.

Quite possibly. Of course, if the shill bidder (is that a correct term?) ends up winning the auction, then the seller has to pay the ebay fees whether the sale was legitimate or not.

Of course, the guy who had high bids in multiple auctions may have just wanted several DD40AX's for his layout and is perhaps a fan of big UP power.
