I want to thank everyone on the TrainBoard for your posts, information, suggestions, answers, and encouragement. Because of all that, I've gotten a lot accomplished on the Saucier Central, at least with the Saucier Industrial Park. Thanks especially for the hints and help with creating the river. It's not perfect, but I've learned what I want to do differently next time. My next phase is the town of Saucier which starts at the near end of the covered bridge, and the white space in the foreground......stay tuned for exciting new episodes of "See The Modeler Make A Mess." :tb-ooh:
Thanks, Guys. Unfortunately, the rest of the layout consists of bare foamboard with buildings stuck in various locations as concepts, and lots of felt tip pen markings. In other words, I'm still scratching my bald spot. But thanks much for the encouragement. :tb-wink: I hope to do the town of Saucier by the end of the year, things being equal and the creek don't rise. :tb-err:
I wouldn't worry about that mate... I don't know about other people but I quite like seeing the progress shots. It gives you a sense of how people do things and gives perspective on the finished result. I also like seeing overall shots of layouts as that gives me a sense of the physical presence of the layout. Your work so far looks great.
Details Please I feel like I just came home from the bookstore with a new bestseller and opened the book to chapter five! You should edit your first post to include a link to your thread in the layout and design section. I seriously thought you were building a 3x6 layout in your kitchen until I searched around. I would love to see closeups of your buildings and bridges with just a sentence of what they are, kits, kit bashes, or scratch builds?!! How did you build your terrain? What track did you use? DC or DCC ? Even if we all used the same materials, we would all put them together a little differently and this is what could really help the next guy. You are definitely off to a great start, just give us some meat and potatoes, please!
Wow, thanks Mark, I'll see what I can do. I have lots of photos in my RailImages album, but I've only posted them as comments within posts by others, never thought to toot my own horn....:tb-embarrassed: I'll try to put together a short historical progress topic with some details as you suggest over the next few days. In the meantime, here's a link to my RI album. http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showgallery.php/cat/500/ppuser/3941
Thanks for the link. Your horn is well worth tooting when you have the time I'm sure we would all love it.
