    Hi,

Today we have (in the UK) had some superb weather, and I have manahged to clear out my shed, and rewire the feed to the railroad after is was doubled in size.

Now the very simple analog controls are located in the shed and will be much better as the shed is virtually in the center of ther lazy 8 of the layout.

The sun was still shining after some trail runs which were all in order so a photo was taken of one of my locos and scratcbuilt caboose just leaving my scratchbuilt Hoew truss and running onto the trestle -

The loco is a repainted Bachmann 4 4 0 and is fitted with a Phoenix sound card.

What did you do for the caboose's running gear? The same approach you used with your way car? It looks like you also need a few D&RG 24' boxcars to interchange with the DSP&P (like me) and to go in between your caboose and #99.

    re underframe for caboose

    Hi Michael,

The underframes for all my cabeese are the last sprung underrframes that were made by a UK supllier, before he retired: I have one left ; that is for a longer DSP one in due course, which also will be red oxide for a different color.

They arer made from heavy angle section brass with brass hornplates soldered in position and have small cast brass axleboxes, and above them are the coil springs; they are very goojtes soldereddd and track beautifully. I add a hollow fabrication from styrene card over the cast brass ones with a small amount of space to allow for some movement - as the article on myLargescale.com as you say.

I have a model of the 24ft D&RG boxcar - it has some trucks that were made from reduced Bachmann 'shorty' freight trucks - they will be OK but are a bit delicate, and complicated to do so that will be it at the moment. The next D&RG ones will be the longer versions, with easier to deal with trucks.

It is a dark brown color and has custom made decals by Stan Cedarleaf; somewhere on this computer there will be a photo, but I have not tracked it down yet! It may well be easier to take another photo tomorrow, weather permitting!

Did you receive my PM at all please?

    Yours Peter
