Glad to hear you both found a place for your layout and for yourselves ;)
As one who's moved about once a year for the past 15 years, I empathize with you and the shear time (and money) consumption moving takes.

Before taking your sections apart or cutting track, I'd put a little Gorilla Glue or CA around the ties on both sides of the section.
Unless you used PC board ties already, plastic ties in caulk have the greatest chance of movement after cutting & in transit, but the GG or CA usually does the trick.
Careful, as GorillaGlue expands significantly while curing! Just a thin layer bonding the ties to the roadbed should do.
And if it's flextrack over the section gaps, then a drop of CA along the sliding rail at the plastic tie clips (2-3 on each side of the gap) will prevent the sliding rail from wiggling out of place.

Then, when you use a Thin Dedeco cutting disk (.009"!) to gap the rails, the rails/ties shouldn't move at all and thus line up again on the other side.
Hope you installed adjustable feet in the legs!

Have fun and good luck with the move!

    Great news!

If you would, and if it's not undue trouble, please take some pictures and document the process of the move. I'm sure there's a lot we can all learn from your adventures in disassembling, moving, and reassembling that layout. And besides, misery loves company! :D

I'm very glad the Elmwood Sub will continue, and very glad that your living situation was resolved so quickly and positively!

Few photos of the dis-assembly. Set to move the layout on Saturday the 18th.

 Have just reviewed your layout thread (where have I been?) and offer my compliments... just in time to see the disassembly! Look forward to renewal of your postings. BTW, superelevation technique and demonstration of its effects alone was worth the time to check the entire thread out. Some great ideas for scenery construction and trackage also. Control panel is outstanding but far beyond me or my needs! (I do 100% manual.)

:pbaffled: Continually confused about overall dimensions, the "rectangle" size. Could you say what that is? Helps to understand the overall idea.

The overall wall to wall size is 11' x 11'. The peninsula portion is about 6-7' in length from the wall and 41" wide.
