Anyone here change out the accumates that come on the 86' boxcars to MTs? I'm not a fan of the accumates, and looking at the box, looks like an MT1015/1016 should fit, wondering if anyone has done this.

Someone here did this and wrote up a very nice tutorial that he posted to the Freight Car Detailers group. Alas, I can't remember who it was, and unfortunately that group, and all the content, was wacked due to a 60-day period of inactivity, so it's lost for now.

If he sees this, I imagine he could repost his solution.

Hey Ike, I was the one that did the How-To that Gary so nicely mentioned. Fortunately I was smart enough to post the How-To in the N Scale Forum too! Here is the link: HERE Hope it in someway helps you out. It is a bit tedious to do but works extremely well once done. Contact me if you have any questions about the conversion.

Hmmm, little more tedious then I imagined...I figured I could just remove the accumate and install the MT...just dunno if it will work.

My Bluford Shops Hi-cubes are packed away somewhere so I can't lay my hands on one just now to check but Accumates should be a straight replacement with McHenry couplers.
