My most recent acquisitions have been these two GP7-s, as well as Bachmann GE 44 toner in very cheery colors just the other day.
While @ my clubs show last weekend, I acquired 2 locos. A friend of mine had given me a MILW FP45 in Orange/Black for helping him out with some duties with the club earlier in the year. He also gave me a Bachmann 44 tonner in Pensy, although I might have to de-badge it or patch it.
'Newest' locomotive acquisitions This was way too hard to turn down....... At a LHS, today I purchased TWO Rivarossi Mallets - one GN, one UP, for less than $50 each. These locos were labeled "new" even though they were over 30-something years old. Both of these locos are from the personal lot of the owner, recently deceased, who collected them and judjing from their condition, either rarely ran them or not even ran them at all. I lubed them carefully when I got them home, and slowly broke each in and now each is pulling 10 cars each on level UniTrak. I always loved these locos and when I sold a couple a few months ago, regretted it, and feel very fortunate to have been able to replace them with units in better condition. Now both of these are running unbelievably well. Man, talk about good days................ Ken "FloridaBoy" Willaman
Well I just received these two Kato SD70ACe's MoPac and WP. I'm sure a lot of you guys have these and agree that they just look great. I got to say Kato did a fantastic job with these locos but I guess that does not surprise anybody since all my ACe's have great paint and perform flawless. I was going back and forth between the new Kato U.P. Gevo's but I decided to get these instead since the Gevo's look very much like my AC4400CW with the flag there is not much difference between the two. At least these don't look anything like a regular U.P. loco.
Like This? Ain't smart enough to do a vid, so ya hafta settle for a still. But you'll enjoy how quiet they are
the NS got a new sd70m-2 or what ever there ace is after painting i put the body back on and i'm getting a buzzing sound, nothing with the body off and two sd60 in soo paint my digi cam took a crap so i'm left with my cell phone cam:thumbs_down:
I got tired of waiting for the new IMRC F-7s so had to pick up this little beauty to sooth my appetite for new power. Brian
I am a certifed steam era guy, but on occasion, when moved and/or inspired, will invest in a modern era loco. To say I was motivated by the new Kato SD7OACe is an understatement, especially when I saw the UP one in SP Daylight decorations. wowser!!!! I now use it as if it were an excursion diesel pulling my ConCor Daylight smoothsides. I have an idea to make an NTrak module of the "Trestles" area (Camp Pendleton) where surfers gather to ride one of the better breaks in SoCal, but to get there you have to hike the rr tracks, and mosey down the bridge where the stream drains into the Pacific. I have just a few more projects to complete, and already have the lumber and specs, but now working on the landscape plan. Since there are no structures, it will need waves made of silicone with Preiser people surfing on homemade N scale boards. The area is mostly sand and sawgrass from what I remember but those waves were incredible when I surfed in my younger days. Old surfers never die they just carry on, and on, and on...... A couple of weeks ago, I bought my second Japanese prototype locomotive, a JR ED75 electric by Tomix. Here's a pic from the website where I bought it: J.R. Electric Locomotive Type ED75-1000 (Early Version/Japan Freight Railway Renewed Design/New Color) (Model Train) Item picture3 I also finally purchased a Tomix Asakaze Blue Train to pull with my EF66. I should be able to pick it up Monday or Tuesday.
A few new L&N additions to my fleet..hard to resist buying anything in L&N gray. These are all my L&N units in gray/yellow, I have an RS3 in black/cream and a pair of Family Lines units. I've also started working on my CSX fleet...
