This Week I turned my attention to Vernon Siding. I wanted it to have the feel of the siding when the Wisconsin Central made the siding longer. For a short time They had this Crazy Jog in the main, and the Main path for north bound trains was a diverging path, it has since been changed so both diverging paths are to the siding First pics is how it looked in March of 09
The Turnouts are powered and have a switch machine decoder on them, I also made these mini CTC pannels to opperate the turnouts Mike Slater
That is what the WC did at first, a few years later CN straightened things out. While they were building it I walked to the south end a few times. Mike
it looks good so far  . I've enjoyed the looks of free-mo modules and this has yet to disappoint me.
South end of Vernon is set up with the mainline taking the straight leg and siding the diverging route. Same goes for the north end. Siding has always been to the west of the mainline. I don't recall the "temporary" set up you have referenced, but maybe I forgot. Been running on this line for 16 years and I suppose a short-term change would escape my memory... -George Widener CN Fond du Lac, WI
All I can rember is walking down to the south end and woundering what they were doing, so maybe it was a temp thing
The UP siding in Auburn, WA is sort of like this on the north end. The main appears to diverge slightly, while the siding has the old mainline alignment. My guess would be that they laid a new "main" track and left the old main track as the siding, giving them a great siding and an all-new main. -Dave
