Now look at cans of the competition. Back to "Oh, dear. Do I really want to ingest that and will it ever digest?". And Underwood Deviled Ham tastes great. It is one of the few labels I fear to read.
EEEEEK! I 'used to' eat Underwood Deviled Ham when I was a kid... BEFORE I could read and understand what the ingredients were!!!!! GASP! Okay... its not so bad... it's the "deviled' part that's scary... Ingredients: Ham (Cured with Water, Salt, Brown Sugar, Sodium Nitrite) and Seasoning (Mustard Flour, Spices, Turmeric).
Alright, so obviously I need to invest in some 10,000 gallon tankers to transport one of Mistere Meat's products - the Mistere Potted Meat product, being shipped out for packaging....
Watson- Refrigeration will lessen the essence of the meat product. Tracy- If you keep the meat product under high pressure in your tank cars, it probably won't be necessary to pre heat before discharging into the huge cellophane like tubes at point of delivery.
109 Windows On The Wall Doors and windows, all 109 of them, painted and installed. I never want to see another window again. Open door, ready for shadowbox installation: Stopped by the LHS today, looking for tank cars :tb-tongue:. Didn't find any that appropriate ones, but I did find (in the bargain bin no less) some paper backdrops that I think I can make use of. Here's one just propped up behind Mistere Meats. The hope is that I can cut these up, place them strategically behind the flats, and make a convincing city backdrop:

Oh, lets not forget the fertilizer plant. Meat packers also sometimes have a such a plant since the "waste" can be cooked down and made into fertilizer. The chicken plant in town has one... the smell is like what comes out of some cars with catalitic converters 100 times over. (Use to be a grociery store close to the plant... maybe that's why they closed it down.)
Whoooo~~~~~~~~~ Takes me back to the Oak Island Rail Yard near Newark, NJ. Driving thru there was "interesting" to say the least. There was the Berkowitz Fat Co. which rendered meat- having looked them up on the Inet- they were shut down in 2007, a very interesting tail/tale if you care to follow- NJDEP SRP - OCR: Berkowitz Fat Company ( Newark City, Essex County NJ) Fact Sheet (Furthermore- read the follow up --in 09) There's a Berkowitz Fat Co. in my model RR future. Man- the scents I never knew. Take a look at the pics- have a gagbag handy. Then there was the scent of the "Cadillac" dog food processing plant right by the Suffern, NY yard of the former EL/Conrail/... (I always wish I had Ritz crackers when I was there?) Oh man, if you want to make this real- you're gonna have to let a pound of ground round putrify behind those walls. Wait a month and start operations and occasionally bring a sizinling burger on a plate thru the room (fast time clock would say 10 minutes for burger scent- can't let it last more than 2 minutes). Yes I am taking out stock in GLS (they're the only company that actually makes masks/resiprators on the entire planet and distributed under all labels that care to sell such product- RRWC/UEB/WorldconIntl/ and their subsidiaries) so you can offer them to your operators as they run down the spur to pick up their loads. Last time I was at Berkowitz- I watched maggot commit suicide- tossed itself right off a carcass, couldn't stand the stench. Okay now, fellas, I'm only telling ya what's true (excepting the suicidal maggot- I just laughed on account it reached the end of a bone and just sort of slimily dropped off for the earth below). Somewhere I am sure I have a 110 instamatic photo of the Berkowitz sign. I didn't wanna get everyone up in flames about this. It is just trains- right? No pictures to post, but I spent considerable time in my train room this evening (daughter's 16th birthday party, house full of teenage girls). I finished building and "blacking out" the shadowbox to put behind the open loading bay door. I also painted the entire back side of the "structure" with black paint, to prevent the lighting from making the walls glow. There will be two heavily dimmed LED's installed - one to illuminate the "interior" of the open bay door, the other to illuminate the small service door in the bottom-left corner.

Sorry if this falls into the "more of the same" category, just wanted to show some progress. Windows are blacked out, roof is installed, weathering is basically done. I think all I have left to do is install a fire escape, and some piping from the tanks on the ground up to the roof somewhere. Oh, and a billboard for the roof.
Absolutely not. Progress threads are my favorite on TrainBoard! This building is looking great! And I love it when modelers take the time to put in a back-story. It makes the whole thing feel more real.
