    Here is the HO car....

Traincat was working on a brass kit to make these in N..

The giveaway is that Athearn hasn't done a WP car yet even in HO.

Wow! I love those shiny silver wheels and those new fangled couplers. Is that a new design?

hmmmmmm, it looks like a kit bash to me, until I saw the molded in end ladders, which now has me puzzled.

Personally, this is not my favorite car, and I don't run auto racks on my layout. But interesting, anyway.

There's one that dad bought in the early 60's lurking about in the boxes of old HO trains in the shed somewhere.

Which is about the average length of time it takes Athearn to translate their HO models into N scale versions.:tb-wink:

Anyone have a picture of the prototype for this thing? What time period it was used? Thanks.

I must have missed the joke.

Here is a prototype. A fifty foot car, I think. Union Pacific.

He He He......I was late for April fools. Hope no one is too upset like the "Atlas" guys can get.

I saw the Athearn HO and thought it would be cool to do for my own collection. I kept the old Rapidos and wheels on for the more observant. They have since become MTL's.

Seems like a reasonable model to me. As a car hauler, it looks very inefficient compared to the newer 89 foot cars.
