Well, thought I'd start a layout thread. even made this video tonight or this morning or whatever you want. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN5r96YZmK4 I don't really have an up-to-date trackplan, but here's the last one I made. the entire yard side is being replanned, refer to the videos. And here's a few pics: ANRR U23B #6330 working in North Branch: GP9 #3 rounds the curve by the lake: and finally at the RR museum in North Branch: N-JOY!
Is this done on a four by eight table? Looks liek plenty of action is packed into that area. Should keep you plenty busy. Boxcab E50
Sawyer - It is good to have you here. I've always enjoyed seeing the progress on your layout. Keep us posted with more!
Boxcab E50, yes sir it is. Almost every layout I've built has been on that table (except for my small desktop layout). Chuck, it's good to be here!
Hi Sawyer, I like the trackplan. I don't think I've seen it before. Your layout is really looking good.
thanks joe! well, my LHS up and closed suddenly with no warning, but there's one or two of them over in Augusta and I'm going over there to check them out today
Thanks reese! well, due to a lot of events yesterday (namely the van's transmission messing up) I didn't get to go to the LHS I wanted to check out in Augusta, but hopefully I'll get a chance soon. Did go to hobby lobby and picked up another sheet of foamboard and also swung by Lowes and picked up some Exit signs. Should hopefully have the brick sheeting on some of the industrial park buildings soon. Matte Medium is EXPENSIVE though; it might give better results but the white glue works just fine and it's a lot more inexpensive (and the quantities I need justify sticking with white glue)
thanks frank! well, posted some progress photos in the wPF. first coat for dixie quick-mix, a guard shack, and the yard industrial district.
Gary, thanks! Shell, glad you found me. Well, here's some pics of what I've been up to today. sorry for the blur, took me maybe a minute total using my cell phone, just wanted to grab some quick shots: looking down the main: The retention pond (still got a lot to do): I think I'll add this curve to the yard and have it continue onto a shelf at some point. then in the future build a sectional yard. then this yard will function only to serve the North Branch industrial district, there will be a train from the other yard (the ANRR's head yard) to the end of the line (which will be another town named Peach Creek after the town where my all-time favorite cartoon Ed Edd N Eddy was set) and will make set outs on both sides of the layout. More on the ops once I have it all thought out. N-JOY!
Well, scraped up the scenery that was drying and put some fresh turf down. the stuff that was down would have set horribly. Now for the RR Museum. I have all three pieces of rolling stock so far, still have room for another piece. Now for the new engine servicing. GP9 #3 rests during some down time in the North Branch Industrial District. Yes, that is a 2 track engine house with one track; I may add some ballast etc to look like an abandoned 2nd line, or may just leave it. GP35 #5 sits on what will be the servicing part of the spur. The ex-Rock Island boxcar in the background serves as storage. More photos in the next post.
Here's a close-up of the boxcar. Then our photographer decided to go do some fishing. First the museum's C-Liner came rolling by with one of the two ANRR streamliner cars. the other car is awaiting windows. since there is no easy way to turn the observation car that was bought with both coaches, it sits on display. The C-Liner, named after a good friend (check my sig) The photographer's buddy snapped one of the coach. And finally here's one of the ANRR's U23B, ex-ATSF U23B #6330 N-JOY!
Sawyer, as per usual, some nice work your doing. Keep it up and thanks for posting them. Also good to see you. Glen:thumbs_up:
Well look what the cat dragged in...Sawyer. Welcome to this joint Sawyer. Watched your vid...cool. You're always working on the railroad, always thinking, always changing. Oh yeah. Keep the pics and vids coming. ~ Bones :lightning:
Glen and Bones, nice to see y'all again and thanks! Well, I have a video and two pics. Sorry for the quality of the pics, they were taken with my cell phone and uploaded to facebook. First the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRMloqTee1o Now a pic of the scenery progress (a few days old, I got tired of doing this scenery so I moved on to another project to keep the RR progress fresh): and finally a pic of the way I think the town will now be arranged: N-JOY!
Well, the hills have been roughed in, and I've already put in the sidewalks, but you can only see the hills in this pic (sorry for the quality, taken with a cell phone)
I've been working on the hills but there's not much change to show. However, I did weather this BC Rail boxcar. the green is tough to fade with Bragdon powders, but I think it turned out decent.
