Okay I searched and all I found was information on setting decals. I want to remove the sticker's residue. Here is the situation:

I have a Plastic LGB Tender. I peeled the stickers on the side off but it left a sticky residue behind that I cannot scratch off w/o damaging the paint. Is there anything that will remove this? And how do I do this carefully w/o damaging the paint?

I have not done this and I hope some member with experience will post.

If all that is left is the glue, you might try peanut butter. The oil in the peanut dissolves some types of glue. Spread it on for some unspecified time period and then wipe or wash off.

Alcohol might take it off, but alcohol may damage the paint, too.

Could you just rub it off? Pencil eraser?

Since you say LGB, this must be a large scale model.

Possibly a dishwashing detergent....just guessing, but it should be okay with the paint if you use a soft sponge that you would use on a non-stick pan. Just rub lightly, not hard or scour.

I have used WD-40 or any other penetrating light oil spray product to remove sticker residue in the past. Maybe some rubbing alcohol to cut the oily residue.

    Try Goo Gone.

Test it first on an area that is not seen to make sure it does not do any damage.

The eraser is surprisingly working. I'm going to try some of the other ideas on my spare bachmann caboose which I was using as a slide decal test, etc. Thanks so much for the help~ I'm glad I can rely on this board for help when I need it :)

I believe WD-40 is based on fish oil, not petroleum, so not interactive with oil or water based paints. However, don't quote me on this because WD-40's formula is more tightly guarded than Coke's......:tb-tongue:

It might be fish oil or some derivative of fish oil. I would believe you even after reading the Wiki info.

Uh, Flash, I don't think I'm any kind of Guru, but thanks for the vote of confidence, undeserved though it may be.....:tb-embarrassed:

BTW, I remember hearing the WD-40 fish oil connection from my Mercury/Atlas days in '62.
