Hi, I've noticed the Centralia Car Shops D&RGW passenger cars finally arrived, they look really good to me, but, like the Walthers coaches, I'm asking myself how prototypical they are? I hope any of you guys can help me out. Kind regards, Carl
Without my library of books (all still with the movers, to be delivered on thursday), I have no idea. I'll defer to the real experts!
I think I've found something, a picture of coach 1241 looking similar to the model. That looks promising! http://www.divisionpoint.com/photos/D+RGW_light/proto/D+RGW_1241f.jpg
I haven't seen them close up, but from what I can tell, they're prototypical. These coaches had different window patterns because of a walk-around barrier or partition in the middle of the coach, which was intended to break up the space and prevent a "tunnel" effect. I've got four of them on order and I'll let you know what I think when they arrive.
Oh good, I was just about to email you Ray about these!! I guess I'll be getting all four soon for Prospector, Royal Gorge and Yampa Valley service!!! Thanks Ray
I haven't seen Centrailia shops coach, but Walthers 52 seat P-S coach was nearly dead-on for the D&RGW P-S Prospector series chair cars. I believe there was only one minor discrepancy with the Walthers car, and that was the location of a name or number board, other wise the car is an excellent match. I can live with that. I bought two of them when they were on sale at Walthers a couple years ago. Between those cars and my Palace Car Company Baggage/Dorm/Chair car, I can model a late version of the Yampa Valley Mail, which ran with a variety of cars including the those combines, 52 seat chair car, dome-chare car, and some heavy weight baggage cars, even the P-S RPO.
So isnt this a duplicate? Both manfrs doing the same cars? And why did Walthers make a non-corrugated baggage when clearly, the entire fleet was [half]-corrugated (a la Budd) whent they claim 'accuracy'? I'm confused. IS there a definitive list anywhere here? dave
Be careful about confusing HO and N here. The HO version of the D&RGW streamlined 52-seat coaches looks pretty good to me: Here's what Walthers brought out in N scale: --Bryan
None of Walther's N Scale cars match any of the PS plans owned by the Grande. (Now, had they done the same cars they did in HO........)
ahh, now I see, yes, that would be too logical... trouble is this is the only 72' Baggage of use for RG isn't it? dave
