Hey all, I just got my NCE USB interface, the manual says the included eprom chip has version 1.28c, but my Power Cab is version 1.3. Am I supposed to install the included chip that has the older firmware?
That's odd. Are you sure you were looking at the firmware version readout screen? I was talking with NCE just last week and they said 1.28c is the latest non-beta version, and the beta is 1.28d. I think the Cab HW version might be 1.3, but I had to temporarily box up my Cab so I can't power it up to check.
Hmmm, I was looking at what is displayed when you first power it on, guess I need to double check. [edit] seems your correct, I watched more closely when I powered it up and saw 1.28c flash very briefly after the 1.3, so it looks like I don't need to change the eprom.
No change needed. As Tony noted, the PowerCab part is v1.28c and the ProCab part is v1.3. This is the correct version for the USB interface.
To be sure call NCE 585-265-0230 and tell them exactly what you have. Had the wrong one in my Power Cab & they sent me the right one free.
The USB interface seems to be working fine, now I have some other issues to work out with JMRI and my MRC decoders not working in ops mode.
