How many of you would buy these if it was available N scale in various road names? I'm sure Im not the only one.
The NRE Genset was introduced in 2006 to reduce emissions and fuel consumption on road-switcher type locomotives. The power comes from 2-3 smaller independent diesels (producing 700 hp each) used as tractive effort is needed. Over 170 have been built to date.
too recent for me, however I *would* buy a number of Also S4's if they ran well. Say with the ex-LifeLike SW1200 mechaism inside them. but of course that is not likely why you started this thread...
I'd be in for 1 or 2. Would like more but I'll have a hard enough time getting the CFO to aprove the 1st one and 2nd if it plays out right.
I figured I Wasn't alone. This seems like a homerun loco to me for the manufacturer that does them because they're almost always seen in pairs so if you get one, you're gonna get two. I'd end up with at least six to update my loco roster. Gotta keep up with that "tier 1 compliance". Or at least thats what Ill tell my wife !
Love the engine, but it doesn't fit either railroad I model...too new for the Milw. Rd. and MRL doesn't have any , at least not yet.....maybe I can talk them into buying one so I can buy the model:tb-biggrin:
I haven't made up my mind on the era for the 'N' scale yet. 'HO' was transition period. It would have to be at least DCC ready. I have an 'N' SW1200 and see them still in service.
I'd get a couple UP and a Cal Northern. I've looked at what it would take to bash a few GenSet units. There are some made from NW2s with only a few obvious changes. A good portion of the NRE units are built from older Geeps (7/9 ect)
