The Layout: The Norfolk Southern Christiansburg District is a small 2x2x4 N scale layout based off the West end of the district. The layout models from the small town of Glen Lyn, VA to East Bluefield Yard. What really draws me to modeling is the vast mountains and variety of trains. Unlike most lines in West Virginia the Christiansburg District features a wide variety of trains, from Hot Shot Intermodal, to junk freights, Grain trains, and the ever so common coal train. The Real Christiansburg District: The Christiansburg District Is operated by Norfolk Southern Railway and acts as a vital artery from the southeast and Lamberts Point Coal Docks to West Virginia and the greater Chicago. Stretching from Roanoke Yard to Bluefield, WV the Christiansburg District’s Double Tracked main line weaves its way through the Mountains of the Appalachia. Most Coal trains to and from Lamberts Point/Norfolk, VA take this route as well as many Chicago bound intermodals. Manifests to and from Roanoke and Linwood yard also take this route. This all makes the Christiansburg District a vital artery for Norfolk Southern.
Same track Plan as the CSX Blue Ridge Subdivision in N scale. It is the same layout, just diffrent scenery and railroad. Dave it is an L shaped layout.
