I read an email by someone over on another forum mentioning the upcoming release of N scale GP7s, so I went to the Atlas site to check it out. Lo and behold, come September of this year several new paint schemes are coming, including the Frisco black w/yellow stripes!

Sounds great- finally, they're recognizing a railroad that rostered 128 GP7s at one time in the 1950s.

My little section of the Frisco's Central Division needs a couple of these Geeps to go with my GP15s.

It's not on the Atlas web site yet. This was previewed at the Amherst Train Show -
in the upcoming Atlas catalog. Probably will be announced formally in March 2010.

Is the C&O one of them?

Here's a link to the n-scale portion of the catalog - the GP's are on page 7.

I was thinking, "nothing for me", then I saw a rerun of ATSF zebra stripes.:tb-biggrin:

I wonder why, when they do three road numbers, they still only do two with DCC?

    Espee Bloody Nose GP9

    No. No C&O.

Espee Bloody Nose GP9 is one of them, though. I think that Espee Black Widow has been the only one made so far. They did make a torpedo tube bloody nose.

Welcome to Trainboard- glad to see another person of refinement and good taste in railroads. :D

BTW, you could model 1950 into the 1970s, although a simplified version of the yellow striping was seen around 1960 or so. And I've seen black & yellow GP7s as late as 1977 in Miami, OK, switching the ex-NEO line in town.

Glad to see the re-release of the Bloody Nose. As fast as SP stuff sells out I'm always surprised how long it takes to do another release. Kato still hasn't figured out that F7AB's in Black Widow would seriously out sell their F3 offering.

I think that's great Atlas coming out with the Diesel Classics; no other manufacturer is. Old Steamers are covered from different angles but only Atlas with Diesels.

The GP38, GP35, GP7, U23 and I know I'm leave quite a few out. But glad to see them all. even if it doesn't help my Consist/collection:thumbs_up:

Don't forget the RS3 and RS11 from Alco that Atlas also produces. At least a few of these are still running on short lines today, almost 60 years after they were built. And SD7/9's, too (I think the NS may have finally retired the last of the SD9's that they inherited from the NKP in the 1964 merger, but I know that several were still doing yard switching duty as of the turn of the century!).

Now if we could just convince Atlas to do an Alco S-2/S-4 switcher, and maybe a FM H10-44/H12-44. With what they already produce, these would just about cover the transition-era diesels and switchers (OK, yes, there are the odd Baldwins and Lima units, but the S-2/4 and FM H10/H12 series were owned by a LOT of roads).

With all the reruns they are doing I hope they are putting the money they are saving by doing new or rerun paint schemes into new tooling, after those Alco and FM switchers an RSD15 would be nice. They are scraping the bottom of the barrel for GP38-2 paint schemes, Durham & Southern, who models that, apologies in advance if you do, but you wouldn't think it would be the biggest seller.

Thank you H Lee for the link.
My layout is tiny ( 25" X 36" ) and I'm modelling the Canadien/Canadian National so the Grand Trunk Western and Central Vermont GP-9 will be a welcome addition to my roster.
