Wow, it's that time of the week again to get this topic going. Each week I have fun rearranging the props on my photo diorama. Some day I need to totally make a new one. I got out the 4-8-0 that I kit bashed for a visit on the diorama. I guess for today, this would be somewhere in Virginia.
Awesome! Is that a brass loco? If not where can I get one lol. very good detail I would almost think old Joe Mcnew is running her and somewhere along the line is O W LInk!
Thanks. Only the steam dome is brass. It started life as a Bachmann Consolidation that I stretched a little to add another axle on the pilot truck. I changed a lot of the detail on it to better resemble the M Class locomotives.
Russell, my hat is off to you for tackling a project like that. It is currently beyond me, and probably always will be. DJ, lovely, as it always the case. Secret weapon, that's a well worn bridge, but it looks great! Here I show an SW8 about to drop off wheels for the replacement of wheelsets in the roundhouse. Note the water that has accumulated in the concrete pit floor.
Thanks, Mike. There you go with those amazing backdrops.....AGAIN!!!!! :tb-biggrin: I seriously don't think they can be improved.
Today was my first venture back to custom painting after two years. I went from this To this For more information there is a thread here Kitbashing a MoPac Caboose
Cool. That Alco seems to have been modified with a new exhaust manifold too. MoPac did some strange modifications on some of their locomotives.
Here's something I came up with this afternoon. I'm going to enter it in the Weekend Modeling Photo Challenge this week as well. For anyone interested, the image above started out with from this image below: See how I made the transition in "post 3" of "Photoshop Tips!!"
I had an extra hand over yesterday so employed him to assist in hoisting my old 4x8 layout to its new place. This sits on top of the center peninsula on the new layout. I added an interchange track so when I get the rest of the upper shelving done it will connect up. One hang up though, the under lighting. I used some led christmas lights and I'm not happy with the output. Not sure if I'm going to rip them out all together or just add another string of regular mini lights to see if that boosts the brightness sufficently. Still need to install the facia around the entire layout. I've got it all cut up just need to paint it. Brian
That's a neat model of a GP12, an EMD-remotored Alco as done by the MP shop forces. They also re-engined their RS11s, replacing the Alco engines with more reliable 567 prime movers, calling them GP16s. The info can be found here.
Progress on Trackside Jack's has stalled while I wait on some detailing parts, so I moved on to another project. My Water Street freight terminal will be a waterfront structure, but it seemed to be missing something. Today I scratchbuilt a detached loading platform for it, which will sit right at the water's edge. It will feature a small crane (beginnings of which are visible in the photo) for hoisting cargo to/from boats.
I scratch build this little yard tower from scrap pieces of styrene. I wanted the abandoned look and I think it came ok. This is the first time I ever tried making something look like it was falling apart. I also scratch built this little "grease shack" tp go along with the tower.
Nice Small Structures bnsf dash 8: Looks good for your concept. Your location of the structures can also have an impact on the abandoned appearance. Cans, scrap, or broken equipment can help get the look you want. Chalk weathering is easy and it will help, too. These structures are very nice.
