Does anyone know if Atlas has exploded view diagrams for Trainman locomotives? There are views for other Atlas locomotives on their site under "Parts", but this doesn't seem to include Trainman. I have a GP15 that shed a couple of small clear plastic pieces during decoder installation and I have no idea where they came from.
They are spacers from the fuel tank. They are necessary, but they drive me crazy. I superglued mine in.
Thanks for the reply! I'm not looking at the locomotive right now, but is it obvious where they go once you get it apart? I wonder if this is why the locomotive is noisy now, too. It used to be much quieter, but after the decoder installation it's noisy, like "cheap" sounding.
Black circular plastic goes in the middle of the tank. Clear long: One goes on one end of the motor saddle, in the small fuel tank notch in the rear. The other goes in the front of the tank. On the noise, You need to give it some magic. Atlas Model Railroad Co. - Noisy Loco? Expanded article by Bearden http://trainweb.org/passengercars/Bearingblock.pdf
Thanks! About the noise, I was actually on the right track, but I probably never would have removed the bearing block. I noticed they were loose, so I was cutting little pieces of plastic to stick next to the outer one to stabilize it. I also bent the bearing retainer to put more pressure on the blocks, which actually DID make it quieter... Now I have to take it apart again to remove the inner bearing block Thanks again for the help.
