Very nice. Makes me want to redo my engine house as diesel.

The view from Overview Bridge. I know, the real Overview Bridge is north of the diesel house. This is a concession to space.

Yep, I often forget that this is a door sized layout. Gives me insperation for my own HCD layout.

Outstanding work Dave. You are the reason I do door layouts. Keep up the great work and thank you for serving our country.

    Thanks for the kind words!

Bryan knows why the 4800 isn't here... :D For the uninitiated, the Kato model of the GG1 is the common smooth-side welded body (the production style). The 4800 was a slightly different shape as it was the prototype for the GG1 production run. However, for most folks the main spotting difference for the 4800 versus all the other GG1s is the fact that her body was riveted rather than shot-welded. Thus the 4800 was known as "Old Rivets."

Old Rivets was the only GG1 to be painted in Conrail Blue (after having been in a number of odd paint schemes in the 70s to include the AAR scheme and CR's Bicentennial scheme). The 4935 there on my layout (known as BlackJack) is actually quite accurate for 1980. Prior to 1977 it was in the standard black, ex-PC Amtrak style of paint, but in 1977 the "Friends of the GG1" got permission from Amtrak to repaint her into the common 1940s-style PRR 5 pinstripe with Clarendon lettering scheme. She remained in this scheme through 1981 when Amtrak stopped using the GG1s. She rests today at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in these scheme.

One more piece of trivia... New Jersey Transit was the last holdout of the GG1, shutting theirs down for good in 1983.

Excellent work! I didn't see a scene I didn't like. Please share more photos as layout work progresses.

    Hi Dave.

I am a fan of your layout. And I am amazed with you modelling! I have a link to your website on my blog at http://luislopesmodelismo.blogspot.com

I am taking a break on the hobby (although I work on a model train shop here in Portugal), but I am looking everyday to your layout!

    Awsome work!

    Thanks for sharing!

Dave, on my own HCD layout I have expansion capability for staging, and I'm looking at your thread for ideas.

    What about the building?

Very Nice, but I got to ask about the building. I’ve been looking for a building like this for a couple of years now and want to know if you made this yourself?
