Model Master - liquid cement for putting together all the structures I got for my B'day; X-Acto needle file set; Xuron track cutters; Atlas 50' double door box car, southern pacific; 2 InterMountain 3 bay hoppers - union pacific. And my MIL got me this -Lionel O scale wild west train set , not knowing what scale layout I am building. Now I have something to play with while I am building my other layout.
I got 2 x Central Valley Truss bridge kits & have already chopped one down to 125ft to closer represent the D&RGW bridge @ Buena Vista + some FVM / Exactrail SP boxcars. Never much of a surprise these days cos my wife gets me to choose what I want from my LHS to avoid a repeat of our first Xmas when she bought me some rolling stock cos "it looked cute & thought I'd like them on my layout" - we are still together despite that...... Hope Santa was good to you guys Steve
Over the years I have never received actual train stuff from the wife ( she doesn't know or ask what I want ) - but I have had a few train items ( spelled plastic cows or the WS cemetary scene) from my son. However.... I can always guarantee large $um gift certificates for my favourite (not so local) Hobby shop from the wife and inlaws. This year I was totally expecting some gift certificates to perhaps assist with my pre ordered Gevos and ONR Rapido passenger cars. But the family threw me a curve this year with an Ipod and gift certificates from an electronics store for a docking system. I guess I'm spending my own money at the Hobby Shop Boxing week sale instead tomorrow.
I've been a Z scaler for years, but always kept my N layout and equipment for the kids. Glad I did, I got the kato GS4 daylight. Wow! You Nscalers got it good!!
No train related gifts for me this Xmas (I'm single!). I did however get an e mail that something I pre-ordered a while ago for my other hobby (I collect anime figures) should be here next week. My train gift should be here in time for my birthday in March; a Japanese Railways EF66. I can't wait!
1 "Village Station" from a "Christmas Village" set that seems about HO scale. 2 Train ornaments 1 sorta N scale tractor / trailer PEZ dispenser. I mean, if I try really hard and suspend disbelief even further than is usual for me.
You too... huh... Yep... seems those new sets of underwear frequently 'creep-up' for Christmas... LOL....:rotfl: Since I rarely get a model train related present I'm not expecting... Its quite a treat to find something under the tree which is a surprise. This year, my youngest (adult) daughter bought me a black polo shirt with "RIO GRANDE" embroidered on it... very nice! The 'wife-unit' has given-up on buying gift certificates or even trying to surprise me... seems I pretty much have everything covered when I shop 24-7/365 on-line. So... she has taken-up 'mail theft' of incoming boxes from known on-line e-tailers. Of course... she tells me something came in... and she is confiscating it to be wrapped for Christmas... from HER to me. Can't complain about that arrangement . So this year she wrapped: 1) Schwitters Dept Store kit from Lunde Studios 2) Kato El Capitan 10 car set and 2 car add-on ............ .
I bought myself a LifeLike NKP berk on EBay and got a first edition Taylor Hampton "The Nickel Plate Road" from my step daughter at my wife's suggestion. My mother-in-law got me a white dress shirt - maybe she is getting ready to bury me. Just a joke she is great to me.
Four Life-Like custom-painted FP-40 locos liveried for the South Florida Tri-rail, each with a different reporting number; and 5 Athearn factory-painted Bombardier coaches liveried for the Tri-rail.
Just some long-sleeve pullover shirts, sweats, and a 4-pack of Guinness beer glasses, one of which I broke in last night, albeit with Shiner Bock. Most importantly, I got to make it home (albeit 24 hours late due to the snow) to be with my family. That beats railroad gifts all to heck.
My El Cap won't get here now till the new year, but my Kato Unitram starter set arrived so I've been able to play with that. Also got a gift box of Tim Tams from one of the relatives. Mmmmm
A piece of coal, a stick and glass of water. Now I can run my live steamer. Naw, my newest addition to the collection is still sitting over at Tom's house. No rush, no hurry...it can wait. Never mind I need underwear but then why am I telling you?
I didn't have any UP motive power, but after seeing it for a good price at the LHS it was an impulse buy. Runs like a dream.
I hope you post some photos of that tram. After driving in San Francisco and seeing Muni's light rail cars, I've been tempted to get a tram. Ayo, my SD24 runs like a clock as well. Have me a UP GP30 to go with it, for the pool power on the WP.
