Hello everyone! Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I'm Aaron and new around here. I am originally from Colorado but now reside in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
I enjoy modeling any and all lines that run through my breathtakingly majestic home state. I used to have a good size model railroad of the old Gold Camp line running between Colorado Srings and Victor/Cripple Creek. I tore it down and sold the component parts when I was 19 years old. I made a lot of other mistakes when I was 19, but that's the one I regret the most to this day.
Today, my pike is almost a work of entire fiction, if you take my meaning, but it is ostensibly based on the Colorado and Southern in the mid 1930's. I regret not having any pictures to show, but my wife made me remove it to make room for the Christmas Tree in the Train Room, which is the office I run my company out of, as well as study. Good thing I keep it mobile, as I am a Pre-Med student and we'll be moving around a lot when I get to Med School.
That's about it. Hope I wasn't too long winded. Thanks for your time, and I am learning a lot just absorbing everything I read here. Never met a friendlier group on the internet!

    I was wrong once...

    Welcome aboard.

Your going to like it here.

I for one am very interested in the layout you tore down. Any pictures? Sounds familiar to me.
Mistakes? What mistakes? I thought I had made one and then I found out I was right or was that wrong? Well whatever happened it was wrong and I had to rebuild the whole section. I hate that when that happens. I said with a big grin!

Anyway, it's good to have you here.

    Thanks for the welcome!

BarstowRick, no, I haven't any pictures or anything of my old railroad. It is unfortunate, as it was a great starting place for me. :mfrown: The mistake I made was being an adolescent and tearing down 6 years worth of work in a fit of hormonal pique! as I said, retrospect being what it is.... but I digress. coloradorailroads, it does seem the motherland is well represented, and that is a good thing, since it is a fascinating place with a deep and rich railroad history! I look forward to learning from everyone, and maybe getting in my own 2 cents worth now and then.

Not to worry, you've got time to build a new one.

You are so right about the rich history of Colorado. They had little railroads running all over their mountains. Like you I'd love to get into a discussion about the rails of the west.

Now get to work and share with us reports, updates and most importantly pictures.

    Nnerd,

Just want to extend a welcome from another Pacific Northwesterner. I live near the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers and I love this part of the country.

If you are in Portland, my club has a layout in SW Portland. Send me a PM if you'd like to come by and see it sometime.

    Kind words...for sure!

Johnny, Thanks for the kind words.

Nnerd and all others tuned in here.

I won't deliberately steer anyone here on TrainBoard in the wrong direction. I attended the University of Hark Knocks and Lessons Learned. I've done every wrong thing you don't want to do in model railroading. I learned, the hard way.... For me the learning curve was difficult and frustrating at times. You will have a friend here in that department.

I will do my best to share with you, to give you the best advice I can. Not to say I know it all. I don't hold myself out as the expert or model railroad guru. I'm just an old fart with way to much practical experience.

Take here what you need, what you want and leave the rest behind. A good rule to abide by when reading my advise or the advise of others.

I love to tease, make funny remarks, get teased and hassled. You won't offend me...tooooooo much. I've been accused of being mean, hostile and revolting to some. But it's always been with good intentions. I'm not out to hurt anyone just give you straight forward level headed advice.

Oh, and before I forget. I'm the local resident "Curmudgeon", that title belongs to me so the rest of you can relax and know it's not you. LOL

Darn beginners, can't they buy a book, I said with a twinkle in my eye and a broad grin.

So, let's get some model railroads built, have some fun doing it and share with each other the results.
