Barring inclement weather I will be attending this years show. Sadly this is the only show, of this type, still running in Oklahoma.
Het Windle, Howdy. Are you a member of the OKC N scale club? Good bunch of guys. If so, what would be the chances of bringing trains only to run on the layout? Can't make it with module this year. Are they having the N scale convention this year ? Carl Sowell El Paso, Texas
Yes they are. Info was posted on another forum/email list. (I think I belong to too many) A Tour and 3 clinics on Thursday , IIRC. Plus the Saturday dinner. Lots of N MFRs will be represented. I'll see if I can find the posting.
Here is the post: "If you have not registered yet, there is still time - the Southern Plains N Scale Convention starts on Thursday, December 3rd with a trip to El Reno (once home to Rock Island yard and engine shops) to visit their museum and take a ride on a real trolley. In the afternoon, we have three clinics lined up with clinicians from Richmond, Texas, Denver Colorado and Norman Oklahoma. Friday is setup for the Oklahoma City Train show with dedicated 60 x 100 feet of space for N scale including Ntrak and TTrak layouts running DC and DCC (thanks to support from Digitrax). Saturday evening is our traditional banquet and door prizes. Our guest speaker is a railroad historian and former employee of Oklahoma City who was instrumental in getting the restoration of Amtrak service - the Heartland Flyer. We will also host representatives from manufacturers who will be at the Oklahoma City Show, including: Digitrax, InterMountain, Athearn, Walthers, Con-Cor, Richmond Controls, Soundtraxx, Kato, Atlas, JL Innovative Design, Etch'N'Tech and more. For more information, you can go to: http://www.oknrail.org/convention.html To register, just download the registration form at: http://www.oknrail.org/convention.html For information on the Oklahoma City Train Show, you can go to: http://www.okctrainshow.com/ And you are always welcomed to contact me. Thanks, -bruce Bruce G Alcock | OK N-Rail"
I'm trying to get some time off from here (it falls on my weekend to work), but if I can get off I'll be there. Okie City ain't too far away................
Do make it to the show and N scale convention if you can - tons of fun. If I still lived in the area I'd be there for all four days. The guys at OK N-Rail are awesome - if it wasn't for them I'd be off wandering around in the world of HO.
I think there is a $10 registration fee for the "convention". That gets you into the clinics and swap meet. Things like the trip to El Reno and the banquet are extra fees.
by the way, all you Oklahoma and surrounding areas, check it out. Hopefully this will help the hobby in our area! OKMTC.com | Model Train Community
Just a bump to bring this topic to the forefront. It’s this weekend and all is looking good weather wise.
