I'm looking for nautical models (boats, tugs, wharfs, buildings, etc) that could be used to model a water front HO scale scene? Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find these type of models besides the Walther's catalog? Thanks
Try here: See if these will get you to some kits or finished models. There is quite a long list there on BING.. www.modelboatlinks.com/index.shtml http://www.modelboatlinks.com/ind
Quite some years ago, I built (started on?) a corner module for a club project. My corner was the Conn Brown Harbor for shrimpboats at Aransas Pass, Texas. I used one of the old Lindberg Line "tuna seiner" kits, which is somewhere between TT and N scale. Used the hull and some parts, and scatchbuilt a superstructure and shrimp net rigging. Stopped working on the module when I had a falling out with the club over club politics back in 1994. A few months ago, I got a package with 4 of the old Lindberg kits off of eBay, to use in my Galveston, Texas Island Seaport layout as small vessels... shrimpboats, tug... I will make the Lindberg flat-decked towboat into a small barge that is drydocked at a small ship overhaul firm. I only have a few square inches (less than 100) for modeling 3D vessels. All of my oceangoing steamships will have to be represented by 2D flat cutouts or painting on the backdrops that will go around the layout room. I will probably use cutouts for structures and ships because I can paint scenic elements-- natural randomly shaped stuff- better than I can paint precisely edged and properly perspectivated structures. (Is "perspectivated" the correct term or is it "perspectivized"?)
