Still need to add couplers and some grab irons but another express car is almost ready for the fast mail. The cars sides are from GHQ.
adding some more grills...notice that these boosters don't yet have their GMM etched stirrups...those B units, with 8 stirrups sure do 'eat up' frets! (and there are 4 more passenger B units on the way!) pictured here on the foam (Man!...I sure do want to start laying track, but too many things to do to the layout before that happens...wire, feeders, terminal blocks, not to mention, a two inch extension to the OTHER side of the door to allow the 'rear' juction a little more space, and provide a little more 'continuity' that will be apparent when the fascia is added)...quite frankly, I don't yet have a plan, nor design, for providing a space for the power and throttles... Until then, I have tons of projects for the layout that don't require laying of track... Thanks for looking, Bruce
Thanks I'm still kinda new here. I kind of wanted my spray booth to fit a certan spot so I built my own. I took a bunch of inprog photos, up to 163 and not quite done. I"m sure I'll edit a bunch out. Probably not how to article quality , but good enough to show that anybody can build a spray booth with only a few tools. Where would be the best place to do this? What format a Blog, Forum Thread ect? Thanks
Almost have the decals on my SD60F done, finally it's starting to look pretty good. Now I need to get it to sit better on the mechanism. View attachment 41897 I also finally finished my B40-8W, custom painted, detailed, and working ditch lights. View attachment 41896
Thanks John , a text file and photos on the side would due if you would like to submit it to the shop and I am sure guys here would love it as well. Mike
Hello all... after applying Plano grills to all the F units...taking a small break from them and working, a little, on the 'Route 66' truss bridge. Evergreen H-beams are being used to form a platform for the steel grating road surface...also used some corresponding Evergreen strip to replace a couple of damaged parrarllel braces.... I'll add some more bracing (I'm thinking 'diagonal') before I 'lay' the grating and the guardrails... Thanks for looking, Bruce
Finally got my trains from my parents house in California after a Christmas trip (on the California Zephyr to boot!) I painted a few cabooses while I was out there and started to get the decals done. Not prototypical, but I think the paint scheme looks sharp. I also picked up some detail parts at the hobby shop to try my hand at some detailing on a locomotive. This is the first time I have detailed a locomotive and am enjoying it. For the first attempt, there are grab irons and roof fans on an Atlas GP7 Ph. 1, and I will probably add some more items before paint. This will be painted and decaled for the California Northern. Doug
Let me re-direct anyone interested back to page 74-75 to review the Virginia and Truckee Ventilated Boxcar that I scratch built about this time last year. Well, I just finished painting another with a very different "scratch-built" approach... and if you liked that old one, I think you'll love this new one! I'll get photos once it's dry.
Still waiting on some accessories from internettrains. Thinking they got bogged down from the holidays. I'm chomping at the bit over here lol
What's On Your Workbench I am fitting a Bachmann GE safety cab to a Con Cor C636 shell which was in my junk box. It will be a C636W when complete. It looks like it will fit on an Atlas B30-7/B36-7 chassis with modified C-C rucks. Will post pictures when completed.
Started working on a CP GP38AC. This unit will be 3005 ex E&N. Here is what I hope to accomplish when done.
