    Hello all,

Been awhile since I've posted, and I've been lurking as well as playing with other scales and such.

    I've got a question.

What is the diameter of the Marklin 0-6-0 drivers? I'm wondering about adapting them to an Nn3 loco, but need this info first.

    Thanks,
    Dan M,

Yeah, I have seen that one. My thoughts were bashing it into something alittle smaller, like an 8 ton Porter in Nn3 (Think Huntsville & Lake of Bays Railway)...

    Chris,

I have seen it, and I must say, excellent work. Gorgeous little engine. I'm thinking if I did do an Nn3 version, I'd pretty much have to scratchbuild the entire thing from chassis up. I don't think any part of the Marklin chassis would work, as the axles are probably spaced too close if I were to use the rear two wheelsets, and too far apart if I were to remove the middle one.

I was thinking something along the lines of a rear-facing drive, similar to what you did on yours, just likely using a worm and spur gears instead of a band drive.

I could even possibly get away with Disc drivers in that size, possibly using an MTL F7 truck as a starting point. I'd have to go home and measure the wheel diameter on that. For a small motor, the tank 'should' cover it. I think the hardest part sill be getting enough weight. I'd need two of the locos anyway (they were double headed), so that may work.

I've got a plan here in a larger scale, I just need to scale it down to Nn3.

Double heading. So are you modeling the Lake of Bays RR? I have an old Gazette article if you are interested. They double headed 2 8T's. If you get them built I'd wire the pick-ups to each other.

Also the drawings on my pics link is from a Grandt Line On30 porter. The instructions have many scale drawings. I can send you any you need, they are easy to resize to N scale and print out (I can size them if you need that)

Oh the Marklin 0-6-0 wheels are about .304" apart axle to axle.

    Chris,

That would be awesome, I've only got a couple of drawings and I had to work out most of the dimensions.

This is one of those projects that's in the "planning" stage indefinitely until I can get the materials, but it's something I'd "like to do" eventually. Dimensioned drawings of an 8 Ton porter in N (and possibly larger to see details), would be great. thanks :D

The axle spacing is only about 1mm off the actual dimensions, 7.7mm compared to 9mm - I think I can live with that. Now the next order of business is to get an 8805/88051...

    Regards,
    Dan MacKellar
