Sierra Railroad... Lets see them... Who models the Sierra? Lets see you models with a little description. Also if anyone know were to get decals besides Highball (I have those) Please post.
Ok here is mine so far. Still in the works S-12(VO-1000) Still need to paint 2 more. Next is my Wheels of Time 60' Harriman Coach w/Intermountain 33" metal wheels and MT body mounted couplers. And here is a pic of both. Still to come a couple of cabooses.
I won the 2-6-2 on Ebay. The decals were custom done by a member on this forum. I still have some and plan to do more steamers.
Jerry, they look great:thumbs_up::thumbs_up:. Who made the decals & the 2-6-2? I'm going to use this photo for my wallpaper. Great photo as usual.
Hey, Jerry, which one those two won you the first prize at N Scale Portland convention?? :tb-biggrin:
And this little engine is going to become #6 as soon as I get off my lazy butt and paint it. Roundhouse Trains (Athearn now) just released an HO set of Sierra RR overton cars. I hope they do the set on N scale soon, even though the paint scheme is no where near prototypical. If they don't I may have to make some passenger decals for the Sierra.
There is also a shop in Modesto, CA who was planning on releasing buildings of the Jamestown yard in N scale. They had a couple of ads in Narrow Gauge and Short Line Gazette, and started a website, but then there haven't been any updates for a long time. I have a bad feeling the recession got the best of them, but I hope not. http://www.scaletownmodels.com/ Review of the kit (page 8 & 10) www.pcrnmra.org/pcr/branch/Branch_Line_april_June08.pdf The HO models
Curn love the GP9 Have one painted right now. What color did you use for your VO-1000 looks good. I think my WP green is to bright.
Nick, I had the same problem you did. I followed the instructions from highball, using a model masters medium green, and it was way too bright of a green. I also placed the decals according to the instructions, not taking into account that the VO is longer than the S12, so on one side the SIERRA decal was too far off center. So I scrapped that shell, and repainted a new one with Polly Scale Vermont Green. Way too green #42. The un-centered Sierra is on the other side. http://sonnet1.sonnet.com/usr/curn/train/132-3260_IMGs.jpg Here's all my #46 photos that I collected off the web. There are a few more of the model in there. http://sonnet1.sonnet.com/usr/curn/train/SierraRR46/ By now its probably obvious, that I'm a little bit obsessed with that railroad. I'm from Sonora.
I used Polly Scale signal red and SCL Hopper Car Yellow. Signal red is just a little bit darker than caboose red, but its not that much different. I don't have a bottle of the ATSF yellow so Im not sure what it looks like. If it looks right to you, thats all that matters.
Outstanding work gents ! Curn, the #46 looks fantastic. I've got an undec & decals ready to go, like you I need to get off my lazy butt and get going also!! Thanks for the tips on the colors.
