I am looking for fellow model railroaders to start a Model Railroad Club here in Miami. If there is enough interest I will provide some exciting detailed information. Please let me know what scale you model? What are your specialties (scenery, maintaining engines & rolling stock, track, wiring, etc.)

We have a huge opportunity for a great space that is perfect for any model railroader or train enthusiast! Reply soon and lets get started.

    Thanks,
    Bob

I am in Pembroke Pines, feel free to PM me, I model N scale. Specialties, hmm. I'd say weathering freight and locos, modern intermodal operations, what kind of theme and roads you thinking?

    Jan,

Thanks for responding in the future respond by email to vanda32547@yahoo.com thanks.

Now here is some information about our club:

The Gold Coast Railroad Museum in Miami houses quite an array of model railroads in many scales as well as priceless railroad paraphernalia. The various scales represented are N, HO, O27, and G scale. These layouts need some attention. That is why this is the perfect location for the GOLD COAST MINATURE RAILROAD CLUB to exist. The collections and equipment on display here have all been donated or loaned to the Museum to be displayed for the public's enjoyment in an air-conditioned secure exhibit building. Here is what is currently available:
Hands on for the little railroaders!

The exhibit building has several wood train set layouts for visiting children to play with hands on! The layouts feature "Thomas" and other equipment, with both free - wheeled and motorized. There is room for several children to play at once, and even seating areas for supervising adults.

    HO Scale

The exhibit building has one HO scale layout on the property. The layout is a small mountain display layout with two continuous running loops. This layout will be replaced with the clubs new design and construction of a Digital Command & Control (DCC) layout where members can operate their own equipment and/or have operating sessions if they wish.

N Scale (Currently needs some repair work)

The 4 x 8 foot (1.22 x 2.44 meters) N scale layout was another donation to the Museum and has three operating loops for trains to run on. The layout has a rather large yard on the front side and another yard on the upper level. A large mountain has been constructed in the center of the layout. The mountain contains five tunnels for trains to run through continuously. There are two lower level loops and an upper level loop with a 3 percent, ascending and descending grade.

    O Scale

One display in the exhibit building’s model railroad collection is a rather large O27 scale layout, built with mostly Lionel rolling stock and accessories. The layout measures about 10 by 8 feet with an access hole in the middle of the square. The layout has 2 continuously running loops, and one elevated loop. The layout's equipment comes from various historical eras of the Lionel equipment offered from the 1950's to the present. This layout was donated to the museum unfinished and scenic work is still being completed on a majority of the layout's surface area.

    G Scale

The Exhibit building contains one large G Scale layout, which is being scenicked. The layout currently has a back and forth trolley line, as well as one continuous loop.

    Other Areas of Interest

A collection of American Flyer S gauge and old Rivarossi large scale equipment is on public display. The museum also has a diorama of a Western Pacific California Zephyr train set in HO scale. If you would like to be a member of the Gold Coast Miniature Railroad Club, and help to operate and maintain these wonderful examples of model railroading magic, and design a new HO Gauge DCC layout … drop me an e-mail message to Vanda32547@yahoo.com.

Although I am VERY interested in getting a group of SoFla modelers together (I am in Weston), I am not willing to invest anymore time into the GCRM. Had enough of their demands and politics.

    Hi Jan, Wazzup!!

PS. I have no specialties :tb-biggrin: He He

I would appreciate further clearification about your bad experience at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum. When were you involved there? What problems did you encounter there? Things have changed but I would like to know what obstacles you encountered so we might avoid a similar experience.

    Regards,
    Bob
