My Grandfather is one of the guys in this photo taken in 1932. Anyone have any idea what type of locomotive this is, or what railway it could have been? It was taken in Terre, Haute Indiana and the scribbling at the bottom says either C.B.E.I.RY or C.R.E.I.RY of C&E.I.RY, not sure which, but I think it is the last one. No one is really left in the family that would know.
I believe it is C & EI Ry. they operated thru Terre Haute. The loco appears to be an 0-8-0. Try contacting the C&EI Historic Society. Charlie
Did some research on C&EI. Looks to have been a 2-8-0 loco, And H-6 whatever that means. Now to just find one in HO scale, all of the 2-8-0 locos out there, are slightly different on the top (The bell is closer to the front). I'll keep looking, I'd like to get one, even if it can't go around some tighter curves.
Newguy, welcome to Trainboard! I always like to see new steam fans here. According to the gospel of George Drury, the H-6 class 2-8-0 operated by the Chicago and Eastern Illinois in your photo, number 879, was the FIRST of 84 built by Baldwin for the C&EI between 1904 and 1906. :tb-biggrin:
Sigh, none of the HO model steam locomotives in 2-8-0 look exactly like this one. Oh well, one of these days, I will find one.
