I just got one of the MRC decoders that fit in an SD50 or SD60 Atlas units. I put it in and programed it like always do. It runs fine but one problem, the head lights work in opposite of the direction. When the unit runs foward the back head light works. When it runs backwards the front head light works. Anyone know how to fix this problem??? Are they a CV you can change for this??? Scott
DCC problem............... Scott, The problem is that your motor is sitting upside down in the frame. There are two ways to fix this. First you could open up the loco and flip the motor, but then you have to also flip the contact tabs(PITA!!). What I recommend is to change CV49 to a value of 16, and CV50 to a value of 0. This orients the lights to the motor. Changing CV29 will only tell the loco to run one way or the other, but evrything else stays the same. I got the CV's from the TCS website. Hope this helps........... John
The only CV that has anything to do with light functions in the MRC 1828 is CV 117. Try either CV 117= 0 , or CV 117 =1 or CV 117 =2. If none of these work, call MRC Tech support. I would have done that to find the right CV to control your lighting problem with that locomotive.
Scott, It seems that you'll just have to flip the motor over, as MRC's CV117 does not appear to change motor/light orientation. John
MRC told me to do this, Scott, i stopped shipments of the new production and low and behold the enginners checked them send yours in for re-programming do not send any money, just a note Frank MRC
