I actually posted more photos, for some reason they did not show up. I think there are at least 20 SD9s and GP9s in Nor Cal. anyway here is the link to my flickr album. enjoy!

Thanks for the pics and welcome aboard!!!

There are four ex SP GP9s in Eureka. One in Petaluma. I'd have to re-look at the roster but isn't one of the Cal Western GPs ex SP? An SD9 in Yreka too right?

Are those the "landlocked" NWP units? I know CFNR and CCT had a couple units stuck in Eureka and Willits. Now that NWP is going to start operations again they can move them around and get the trapped units home.

    From Scaramento:

Just take state highway 99 toward Los Angeles and then take the west main street exit at Turlock. Continue going west, First you will see the foster farm on you left, where SP 3387 is, then keep going west (for about five minute or so) until you see S Faith Street. Turn Left at S Faith and go about 6 minute you will see SP 4409 and all other locomotives on you left. (I forgot the name of the cross street). There is a huge collection in the yard.
    The collection includes:
    BNSF 1322 GP7u
    BNSF 1628 GP7u
    BNSF 1331 GP9
    UP 3913
    CCT 1795
    TS 25 (44 tonner)
    TS 26 (44 tonner)
    TS 17
    SP 1533 SD7 ex SP 1428 exxSP 2728 nee SP 5321
    SP 4371 SD9
    SP 4401 SD9
    SP 4409 SD9

Oh, and don't forget the pair of SDs at Schellville and the Kodachrome GP at Portola.
PLA at Niles also have a GP and SD in their collection. :D

Wow...I didn't realize that there where that many SP SD9's left, however, it is really sad to see such beautiful units rusting away like that. Wish I could save a couple of them! Are they privately owned?

This is a little off topic, as the locomotive is in Oregon, not Cali, and is privately owned and restored by George Lavacot, thus the "LLW" letters. He has taken a lot of flak over the silver trucks. I think it looks good this way, and it's his, so he can do what he wants, right?

I understand that CCT 70 is also trapped in Eureka.
