Hi All, I thought I would share a couple of photos with you all of our first N-Scale vehicle. It is a "Triple" Auto Carrier. The images show it in the frame stage as I still need to etch and install the stainless steel gratings to the lower assembly before adding the hydraulic platforms. I will be having a special run of Athearn Mack "R" cab/chassis made for this and several other new truck projects including a corrugated stake bed. As shown, it took about 20 min or less to build and attach this frame since it is mainly folds.
Awesome man! If these sell well, I think etched cattle trailers would be a nice addition to this one.
Bob, That looks great! Will Athearn also supply the trailer axles? I am sorry that you could not make it to the convention this year. Carter
biggrin::thumbs_up:YAY!!! I've been asking for these for a while. Guess I'll have to start saving to get a few.
Hey Carter, Due to health reasons, I had cancel last minute. Yes and No. There will be two kit versions. One kit is the brass & SS only for those that already have Athearn trucks. These will be out first until the special run arrives. The second kit version will contain the Mack "R" and the trailer axle/tires as a complete kit.
What are the projected retail and when can we anticipate M.B. woo woo woo/some train store.com to get them in stock?
Thanks Bob, that is just the information I needed for my next article in The N Scale Collector. Several of us here heard what happened, and we are praying for a full recovery. Carter
Wow NICE!!! Bob That probably will sell very well. I'm not too familiar with the time-frame (era) where this model would be appropriate, but it looks like something for 1970's to present. What prototype was it fashioned after and what is the intended time-frame (era)?
From 1980 to present. I used a rig that delivered cars to a dealership next to my day job. Since I knew someone who worked there, I just started taking pictures and measurements one day. I have an earlier version on the board now that is a standard trailer that will connect to an Atlas or Athearn tractor.
Again... WOW! That is a beautiful model. I hope you are working on an earlier version... hopefully something early 1960's which would go with the Athearn Mack B tractor.
