Has anybody received their MT SP Bay window caboose yet? Any pics to share? Are you pleased with it? It looks like its sold out all over? It will go great with the tunnel motors. Thanks in advance. God Bless! Dave Thomas
There's supposedly a second run with a different road number coming in August. I just pre-ordered one of those yesterday at my LHS. I have one of the new ones coming soon but it's not here, yet. If no one else has by then, I will post pictures when I get it.
Yes I just picked up one of mine at the lHS; Nice looking models and quite pricey. Sorry I haven't taken any pictures as yet just got back in. I'll be back; just nice to have a nice SP Bay Window! Nice Job Joe!
I read the next release was going to be in october? August would be much better! Has Micro-Trains run a reprint this close before or is this something new. I am unfamiliar with how they do things. dave thomas
I could be wrong. I had thought there was one coming out now and one in August. The guy at my LHS has operated from inaccurate information before. It's usually pretty close.
We had the first one for June, the second in October. I was hoping for something sooner, but with capacity and schedules and parts already made, that was as soon as we could do it. Historically we wait several years if the car has a large volume of road names...in this case not a ton, but if things were different you'd see another one in two years or so. Sorry for running short, we were shocked by the demand even with the large production numbers we scheduled. Joe MTL
Joe, I am looking forward to it. Now I don't feel so bad about painting over an older bay window caboose I already have to get the WPRR bay window I want. I reserved one out of the second run right away, too. This is too good a caboose to pass up!
I'm still trying to locate the first one! Some hobby shops haven't got any in yet. It might be a good idea to reserve the second one. This is definitely worth the money! There was a live one in Oroville, Ca UP yard about a couple of months ago! dave thomas
I was surprised that the SP-specific roof details were not installed. Looks like a DIY project with the unpainted brass photo-etch and instructions included in the box. I know a lot of people are going to have a hard time with it, those are some tiny parts. Pete
Atlas has a nice Santa Fe Extended Vision version oout I picked up from Fifer not long ago if your interested in any other than BW style Just FYI:tb-wink:
Yep knew this model would be popular. I've read more post recent and past about finding/bashing/scratchbuilding Bay Window Cabeese. Especially us SP Fans there almost a must have. Four in my fleet alone and I'm sure I'm on the skinny side of that with this group. lol
Check the Trainboard advertisers. I think that some of them still have M-T SouPac BW Cabs available from their allotment !
I just picked mine up yesterday. As per usual, MTL knocked the ball right out of the park with this one. My only criticism has to do with the detail parts for the roof. I think it's a little goofy to leave it to the user to paint and install them for the price of a finished RTR model, but to be fair this caboose is WAY BETTER than every other N scale bay window caboose I have seen.
