I can tell that the days are getting longer for those of us north of the Equator as the railfan photo selection is gradually increasing. New Haven Neil brings us this great shot from somewhere in Europe (please correct me if I am wrong): Bravogjt chased down this semaphore - oh, how I miss these signals! : Keith shows us that you can still get some great railfanning in even if you don't have full daylight: Railfan55 found this transfer caboose (??) in Dunsmuir:
Buddy Burton caught battle-weary UP Y659 after a hard day of switching at Beverly Yard: Russell Straw caught the Katy, left me and you to riiiide... OC_Engineer_JD's shot of Franklin canyon. I think I am getting dizzy: Here's one more from Bravogjt:
That's really a shot of the bridge and it's shadow. I think it is very interesting and unusual. I probably would not have taken the picture because of the shadow, but this is very nice and, for me, an unexpected result.
I cribbed the "Franklin Canyon" bit from the RailImages entry. I figured it was the place name. Normally, I bypass photos with weird shadows, but this shadow really shows off the changing topography and creates such a strange visual effect.
I didn't have much to go on since Tuesday was nearly dead for traffic on the UP Clinton Sub. Of course I didn't catch them at the right time; as soon as I started running errands, they started running eastbound after eastbound. I am glad to grab just these few.
