For releasing a GP39-2. The ONE locomotive I've most coveted since the 80s. I'm trying to not spend money on any more engines right now. I've wanted one ever since MR ran an article about how to Kitbash 3 different phases of them. The Kitbash was involved and beyond my skill at the time, so I simply lusted from afar. Now though, I'll need an ATSF and a P&W unit. Thank the Lord that they don't have W&P patched war bonnets or it would be 3 units. And of course an undecorated for my home line. Hmm, I wonder if you can get dummies for it.
P&W GP39 Got two of 'em bought and paid for from Branchline Hobbies of Longview Texas. Just waitin on Atlas to ship 'em Just found this photo of the model on the Atlas site.
I am hoping they release the GP39-2 in P&W livery in N scale, too. I'd buy a bunch and just re-number them as needed.
Yes, Atlas is probably the ring leader of a cabal of model rr manufacturers (Athearn, Atlas, .... on down the alphabet) who "know where I live." Take the SD-35/SDP-35 plot in HO! And, yes - it was a plot; first, announcing the SD-35's in two of the road names I model - then the SDP-35 in a road I had to have! Devious. Instead of Congress investigating the pereginations of football rankings, an investigation into this cabal would be a much more useful waste of our money. And, they're not through - Athearn, Atlas ("tho as a junior partner this time), and P2K have all announced products to keep me below the poverty level.
You know that the next part of the plot will be to releast the Phase 2 forms and the Phase 3s. I will be undone by this.
Hmm, maybe just for grins & giggles I should send an email to Atlas suggesting they go a GP40 in St.L&A black & yellow, with two road numbers.........hee hee hee....... It is nice to see motive power made for this regional- I have good memories of watching trains from the balcony of my apartment in Salem as they ran by the south end of Minto siding. It was a neat road to railfan.
So I am wondering since the GP-39 and the GP-49 are so simular to my understanding is Atlas going to make Alaska Railroad Gp-49's? Maybe I should start my kitbash to ensure that they will! =)
Somehow, I bet they'll only do the first two phases. IIRC, only MKT had Ph3 GP39-2s, and those are the ones that look like GP49s.
Has anyone besides me noticed that the prototype logo is W&P and the logo on the model is P&W in the photos posted by Mr. SP? Gary
