    Hey,

I recently aquired a United Scale Models brass 2-6-2. It was recently remotored and runs smoothly, however it doesn't have a coupler on the pilot. The pocket for the couper is big enough for the shank of the coupler but thats about it and I was wondering if anybody had in thoughts about installing a coupler on the pilot with out having to unsoder things. If anybody has any suggestions or ideas it would be helpful. Thanks.

Here is a photo of the locomotive. As you can see the coupler pocket is pretty small.

Dose the coupler pocket go clear through or is it just a recess in the pilot? Drilling and filing is going to require a sharp drill bit as the pilot is more than likely lost wax brass which is hard. A Kadee 4 modified and without the coupler box might fit after the pilot is drilled out.

The coupler pocket goes all of the way through.

My Mike has got another front coupler, too. I followed the method from my friend Friedhelm. He gave me even the modified Kadee coupler # 58.
This shortened coupler has two holes, one for the eyelet and one perpendicular to the shaft.

Thanks for the idea Wolfgang. The coupler pocket on my engine doesn't stick out as far like it does on yours, but I think I might be able to modify it so it will fit my engine.
