This is one train waiting in the yards to go out. The coal fleet has grown a bit over the years since this was taken. I'm running tomorrow and will try and get a class picture...

That is an old photo. I barely recognize the yard. How long ago was that taken?

Arctic Train, got love the Alaska Railroad! What we really need is 4 or 5 GP-49's pulling a coal train. They are on my "to do" list! I am waiting for my Fox Valley Trinity cars. Should be here soon, I hope. All 25 cars! Hopefully there will be a second run and we will be just a few cars short of the entire fleet!

Really great thread, shows one of the huge advantages of N over HO.

While the coal drag is mine, I wish I could take credit for that beautiful scenery. However that is actually an NTRAK module set owned by Dale Rinker, who is a member of Northern Virginia NTRAK. Our NTRAK club sets up twice a year at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg (www.rrmuseumpa.org), and five members of NVNTRAK generally join us there for a weekend of fun.

I can't insert any more photos, but here is a LINK to a photo showing the various layouts at Pennsy Days 2008. I'm biased, but I think it has to be one of the top five venues in which to run trains, surrounded by all that history. Our two groups will be there again this year from May 29th through June 7th for Conrail Days and Pennsy Days on consecutive weekends, and again on October 10th and 11th for Model Railroading Days. Our combined layout will be about 12' x 70'.
